Mississippi State's Dan Mullen Is The One Smearing Cam Newton

• Are you that stupid? Coach Mullen turned in a cheater and more coaches need to do the same. There is no place for thugs like Cecil Newton in college sports, and the jury is still out on Cam> I would bet it will all be taken away from Auburn in the near future.

That Rogers [former player] contacted Bond [former MSU player] to solicit money for Cam Newton to play at MSU is in violation of NCAA recruitment policies that state alumni are not to to be involved in recruiting a prospective college football player...in any way. That, to me, would make MSU a candidate for probation -- even if it can't be proved that money changed hands...either by STATE or Auburn. When the smoke clears, I would hope that all involved get their particular form of justice -- one way or the other.

I'm a Mississippi State fan and I don't want to see anything happen to Cam Newton and don't think MSU or Dan Mullen did anything out of spite. • Why cant' LSU be behind the Cam was cheating at FL story? If AU falters, then LSU plays for the title. There is a coach at LSU that left FL in bad terms last year and was there when Cam was at FL. Look at the timing of the info on Cam's cheating at FL. LSU beats ALA, AU has 2 SEC games to play. This coach got to try to throw Urban under the bus plus put AU in a bad place before a SEC game with a weak GA team. I'm just saying.

His academic record is protected by federal law, so there can be no evidence of anything! And why on God's green Earth would any football player go to MSU when he finally received a coveted offer to play for Auburn and Gus Malzahn's offense, with the SEC's best offensive line? That is undoubtedly why MSU boosters offered money for Cam; they could not get him after Auburn offered a scholarship.

• Wow. You obviously did absolutely zero research before writing this article. Anyone around the situation knew immediately that Auburn had done something extraordinary to get Cam to commit. He was considered a lock to go to Mississippi State by everyone who followed his recruiting because he and both Dan and his wife Megan were extremely close. He loved MSU. His dad Cecil is the root of this entire situation. This article is pathetic.

• Figures a has been rapper, living off his past would actually have a gossip page. Luke, you are wrong on this one sir. It was said on ESPN CollegeGameday by the man himself, Cam Newton, that he felt horrible that it didnt work out with Mississppi State. He told ESPN in the interview, that he drove to Starkville and told Coach Mullen and his wife to their face that he was not going to attend State. He said, "I felt obligated to tell them to their face that I would not be attending Mississippi State". Why would Dan Mullen be trying to throw Cam under the bus for all this shit. Cam's dad is the man that is to blame for this. If he had taught his son better, than he would not have stolen, cheated, or be lying on NATIONAL TELEVISION to all the people that he "did nothing wrong". Give me a damn break. I'm out! He basically just thinks there's a chance Mullen is doing this...so he writes an article saying he is? I understand this may be acceptable for Luther Campbell and apparently for Miami New Times, but it isn't for anyone else.

• Two things are obvious here first the people who posted so far are either Gator or Bama fans and are upset by the article. Second you guys obviously don't know how college football works, especially the SEC "Brown Baggers" is the way they operate they want a kid, Booster, Alumni send the cash over. WOW and the kid decides to come to that wonderful academic institution. WAKE UP!! they especially love doing to kids in the S.Fl area. LSU took up a whole family with jobs provided and daddy got a Caddy. • I agree that if these allegations are true, more power to Mullen if he is the one behind it. Not in regard to the academic matters, but if he turned Auburn in for taking a player out from under him by paying him, I'm plenty ok with that. You can't break the rules for players and expect the team that didn't break the rules, thus didn't get him, to sit there silently. Kudos to Mullen for standing up and saying something. It's not as though Auburn has a history of NOT doing this type of thing.

• If true, give Dan Mullen a metal for exposing Auburn, the biggest cheaters in NCAA history. Auburn was desperate after big brother Alabama won the National Championship last year......it was very predictable that Auburn would resort to this kind of tactic. Again, thank you Dan Mullen for exposing the Auburn terds for what they are.

• I'm really not sure what to say. I guess this is the place where they allow people to spout whatever opinion they dare, however defamatory it is no matter the level of proof they have; but I can't believe anyone reputable would attach their name to it. From what I can tell, Mullen and Mississippi State told the SEC in January and the NCAA in July what they knew. They never implicated Auburn in anything and only implicated Newton after the NCAA came digging. It would have been a violation of NCAA rules NOT to report it when they did if they knew something. And if you honestly believe an SEC head coach is breaking federal law and releasing confidential academic records about a former player at a school he's not even involved with any longer, I really don't know what to say. This is one of the worst written articles/editorials I've ever read. The one thing in this article that is fact, that you 'can't deny', is that Mullen was OC at Florida. Good job; apparently, that means you're a 'scorned woman' and a 'snitch.' Uh, ok. You automatically think it's Meyer...or perhaps someone completely different...but no, it's Mullen.....because Luther Campbell decided it was.
