Stephen Morris Will Start for Hurricanes on Saturday

Miami has become the land of great quarterback uncertainty, but unlike a certain professional team we'll have some deserved faith in who will be starting for our college team in their next game. True freshman Stephen Morris will make his third straight start for the 'Canes against Virginia Tech this Saturday. Let's hope it will be his third straight win.

Randy Shannon and his coaching staff are trying to avoid any sort of quarterback controversy, and Jacory Harris is still expected to return as starter once he's medically cleared to play. He was taken out three weeks ago in what turned out to be a devastating loss to Virginia. He will return to practice this week on a limited basis, but the medical staff is not ready to let him play.

If Miami has any hopes of making the ACC championship game they must defeat Virginia Tech, and then hope Virginia pulls an upset over their techy rivals in the final week of the regular season. Even if that doesn't happen, and Virginia Tech goes on to win the ACC, Miami could still carry on its tradition of beating the eventual ACC champion during the season for the third straight year.

Morris has impressed a lot of onlookers since burning his red-shirt status during the Virginia game and shows a healthy dose of promise for the 'Canes future. Though, we don't expect much a quarterback controversy this season.

If Jacory is healthy he'll start the following week against USF, a team he had no problems against last year. We don't think even the biggest Morris backers should begrudge him that chance.

We suspect he'll also start the bowl game (hopefully Morris will get some time too), so we'll pencil the QB controversy in for sometime starting in Spring training.
