Now that the Seattle Seahawks are unsurprisingly out of the playoff race, newly hired Miami Hurricanes offensive coordinator and now former Seahawks QB coach Jedd Fisch will finally get to me Al Golden? Wait, wait, the 'Canes new head coach hired his offensive coordinator without ever actually meeting him? Well, that's encouraging.

The Herald reports that Golden and Fisch have so far only talked by phone, and that only came just a few days before he was hired.

Fisch originally heard about the job through Seahawks coach Pete Carroll. His son Brennan was recently hired by the 'Canes as the tight ends coach and national recruiting coordinator.

"I never met Coach Golden prior to our phone conversations, and I couldn't be more impressed," Fisch told The Herald. "Obviously, it's not an easy decision to make when you're in the middle of a playoff run."

"The reason I left is two-fold: One, Al Golden; two, the tradition at the U. . . . Every time we talked prior to the offer and acceptance of the position has been great conversation. We're on the same page not only philosophically but schematically. We both bring a very similar passion and energy to coaching.''

Really, just phone calls? Not even a Skype or two? Facebook chats? Anything?
