Books & Books is Finally Bringing a Bookstore to Downtown Miami

Categories: News
Shamefully there's only one bookstore within City of Miami limits, and that's in Coconut Grove. Which isn't exactly centrally located. Finally, local, independent book chain Books & Books is opening a window to the literally world in the urban core of the city with a small location set to open in the next few months.

Yes, Downtown Miami plays host to one of the most prestigious book fairs in America, but for those other 51 weeks of the year finding a book to buy in the area isn't so easy. The opening of the bookstore is yet another sign that the concrete jungle of business offices and slowly filling up apartment buildings is slowly transforming into a livable, and vibrant community.

The Herald reports that The Newsstand Café by Books & Books will continue Books & Books practice of serving food along with its books. Though, at only 800 square feet the local chain's eighth location will be somewhat smaller than its other locations, but its a step in the right direction for downtown.

The store will open at the plaza of the Wachovia Financial Center at 200 South Biscayne Boulevard sometime between mid-February and Early March.

Books & Books currently has locations in Miami-Dade in Coral Gables, on Lincoln Road in South Beach, in the Bal Harbour Shops and at the airport. A location in Ft. Lauderdale is set to join the chain's two other non-Miami locations in Grand Cayman and the Hamptons.

I'm not sure if it's the one Todd is talking about, but there is one on 1st Avenue near Fratteli Milano called Downtown Book Center. It's been around since 1965, longer than the author of this post has been alive!

There's a bookstore downtown already right next to the bank of america building. It's been in downtown for decades. There's also a number of bookstores in little havana (calle ocho), there's mapu in little haiti, etc.

Kyle, I still have no idea how the University of Miami gave you a degree in anything. You obviously failed writing class. Maybe you can find a book on English grammar at the new bookstore.
