Enrique Santos Launches Search for Miami's Homeless "Golden Voice"
"Enrique Santos will use his charisma and reach to look for Miami's very own "Golden Voice," Enrique will be holding a contest where you can submit videos of your favorite homeless character in Miami," reads Santos' website. "All participants and or nominees MUST be homeless. After reviewing all the videos and selecting a handful of nominee's there will be a winner chosen, the winner will be featured in a voiceover commercial, he or she will get a full make over and will be helped to organize an employment resume. Video submissions can be made at email@example.com."
Assuming that most people eligible for the competition don't have regular access to video cameras or e-mail, we're guessing Santos is expecting his listeners to search out possible nominees. That seems like it will go well.
Of course, Williams' own story didn't end so well. After a brief flash with fame, he was arrested after allegedly getting in a fight with his daughter and was then pushed by a headline-hungry Dr. Phil into rehab.
Considering that the winner of this contest probably won't be under so much media pressure and will get help in finding a job afterward, this could end with a happier finish.
The bleeding heart in us also would like to remind people that there are millions of homeless people across the country and thousands here in Miami, many of whom may have valuable gifts they could offer society besides a nice voice, and that they all need a little help getting back on their feet.
