Al Golden has said he was going to hire his offensive coordinator from the NFL to guide the Hurricane's traditional pro-style offense, and according to reports he's selected Seattle Seahawks quarterbacks coach Jedd Fisch for the job. The hiring hasn't been made official, but the team's official Tumblr has already posted an article of Fisch's career so far.

Fisch is a Florida graduate (disturbing, but we can work through that) who got his first chance in coaching thanks to Steve Spurrier. Since then he's worked as a high school coach in Florida and has spent 9 of the past 10 seasons in the NFL. He spent a single season as the offensive coordinator at the University of Minnesota.

Fisch has also previously been the wide-receiver coach for the Denver Broncos where he coached Brandon Marshall to a stand-out season which helped Marshall become the league's highest paid receiver when he joined the Dolphins. Fisch hasn't disappointed in his role-playing coaching assignments in the NFL, but his times with the Gophers wasn't fruitful.

"Minnesota's offense struggled under Fisch in 2009, finishing last in the Big Ten in both yards (306.5 ypg) and points (20.9 ppg)," wrote an ESPN blogger this time last year when Fisch jumped from Minnesota to Seattle. "But keep in mind that the Gophers were adjusting to a dramatically different system and lacked the personnel, especially on the offensive line, to run it effectively. Year 2 likely would have been better, and Fisch, in my view, remains a bright football mind."

Fisch will continue to coach with the Seahawks throughout their surprise playoff appearance before setting up shop in Miami. So expect him in Miami sometime early next week.

Fisch will replace Mark Whipple who somehow, some way is expected to be named head coach at UConn.
