Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen to Give GOP Response to State of the Union in Spanish

President Obama will deliver his second annual State of the Union address tonight. Ah yes, the State of the Union address -- Washington's most annoying and pompous tradition. Along with the seemingly never ending applause, the traditional opposition party response ranks right up there as the single most annoying feature. This year Republicans aren't content to respond in just English, but will also offer a response by Miami Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen to be broadcast on Spanish-language networks following the speech.

Democrats started scheduling Spanish language responses in addition to the traditional English language response during the Bush administration, and Republicans began offering responses en español last year. In fact, Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart was handed the duties last year.

Ros-Lehtinen, who is attending to her sick mother, will deliver the speech from a Miami studio. The speech will cover much of the same territory as Rep. Paul Ryan's English response.

We wonder which part of the Republican party is more upset about this: the "Englesh Onlee" crowd or Marco Rubio for missing out on the exposure?

The State of the Union will be broadcast live tonight starting at 9 p.m.
