Carlos Alvarez and Natacha Seijas Turn to Alex Diaz de la Portilla To Fight Recall

Alex Diaz de la Portilla
Alex Diaz de la Portilla, a former state senator known for engaging in dirty political campaigns, is rounding up votes to stop Mayor Carlos Alvarez and County Commissioner Natacha Seijas from getting recalled, according to two sources close to both politicians. In the midterm elections, Diaz de la Portilla helped his brother Miguel win the state senate seat he had in a brutal campaign against former state Rep. Julio Robaina of South Miami. At least one of the insiders views Alvarez's hiring of Diaz de la Portilla as a sign of desperation.

For one Alvarez has not been kind to brother Miguel, a lawyer lobbyist who has been on the losing end of some of the mayor's vetoes. "Alvarez has cost Miguel Diaz de la Portilla money," says the source. "Now he is turning to his brother. These are the people who are going to save him? If that is the case, then the mayor is screwed."

Nevertheless, Diaz de la Portilla is also known for his proficient absentee ballot collection, which will likely constitute a large portion of the votes cast in both recall elections.

Dirty politics is the key word here and that is right up Mayor Alvarez's alley. Its time to drain the swamp. Vote absentee, vote early or vote Tuesday March 15. Either way, vote Yes to Recall Mayor Alvarez.. ---------------------------Well said but looking at the same ole same ole Miami Cuban politicos who want to replace Alvarez . I ask why waste tax payers money only to in truth replace him with same self serving Miami politician?

Alvarez nor Seijas should NOT be removed from office . Let's be realistic Miami Cuban politics is mostly trash replacing trash . COUNTLESS politicos and city officials which would never hold office in any part of USA have a home here for life.So why waste tax payers money only to replace them with TYPICAL Miami politicos which is usually either corrupt, self serving or close to useless .

Btw I am being very kind by saying "usually".I say this as a realistic Cuban American living in Miami.

Alvarado attacks former Republican Majority Leader DLP as being "known for engaging in dirty political campaigns." What or better yet, who's, his source? And what was the "brutal campaign" against Robaina? Didn't Miguel win by 9 points? Where does he get the balls to call DLP dirty after Alvarado's really dirty and unsubstantiated article on Arthur Teele caused the Commissioner's death? How come this guy hasn't been fired yet? One day he will cost the NT million$. Guaranteed.

One second here. In worst case scenario is this Alvarado guy's right to express his opinion wich i'm sure is backed with trustable sources and in the other hand yes, Mr Diaz de la Portilla's reputation for dirty politics is very well know by all of those who, like me have a memory. From the old times of DLP vs Carlos Valdes for State Rep to the scandal in wich DLPS gang enganged in a well publicized street fight with the Carlos La Casa's gang in the premised of Radio Mambi, a Am hispanic radio station to the links with now days infortunate Federal House member, David Rivera just to cite some examples, DLC is as dirty as the word dirty can be used for so don't feel so bad because of Mr Alvarado article and instead dedicate sometime to yourself and go ahead and learn some more of local politics since not all of us are so blinded or illiterate (UNLESS U HAVE ANOTHER REASON FOR THE SUPPORT) when it comes to that.Good luck to ur DLC little friend and fyi no dirtyness in the world will this time make him able to save Carlos Alvarez!!!!

Suegold101, you are disputing whether Diaz de la Portilla is known for engaging in dirty political campaigns? You are joking, right? I have received plenty of Diaz de la Portilla's dirty and brutal attack literature over the years so I will be happy to be a NT source.

I'm waiting to see how many ballots are cast in polling places vs absentee. This vote is ripe for fraud, I hope there are many, many eyes on this one....

Why are they so afraid of the will of the people? Is sueing and scamming the only way they can remain in office?
