Kirby Hocutt, Hurricanes Athletics Director, May Leave for Texas Tech
![]() |
Hocutt has ties to the Big 12. He graduated from Kansas State, and spent six years working in the athletics department at University of Oklahoma. Prior to his job at UM, he served as athletics director at Ohio University.
Hocutt's biggest decision at the University of Miami so far has been the firing of football coach Randy Shannon and the hiring of his replacement Al Golden.
Reports of his possible move are a bit surprising and come at a difficult time for Miami. Besides the recent transition of the football staff, many expect that men's basketball coach Frank Haith's job may be on the line following this season. If Hocutt were to leave for Texas Tech, the firing of Haith and search for a replacement would come during an awkward time in the Athletics Department.
