Panthers President Slams Miami Heat Fans

Pittsburgh's pro sports teams show solidarity by donning black and yellow. South Florida's teams apparently just passively-aggressively trash each other on Twitter. Florida Panthers CEO and President Michael Yormark attended a Heat game last night, and on Twitter he trashed Miami Heat fans and the team's game-day experience.

At heat game now. Panthers game experience is so much better. More kids. More families. More excitement. More passion. More energy.less than a minute ago via OpenBeak

The Panthers and Heat used to be housemates when they both held court at the old Miami Arena, but I guess the two franchises aren't on the best of terms right now.

Notice Yormark's slams aren't so much about the Miami Heat's on-court action but about the people in the stands. Basically, he's trashing the fans. Of course, he's taking the opportunity to imply that Panthers games might be a better experience for parents wanting to bring their kids to a pro sports games (if you want to consider hockey a sport, and the Panthers' level of play on a true professional level), but damn, Yormark, there's no reason to insult Heat fans' passion and energy.

I haven't been to a Panthers game, uh, ever. I'm a native Floridian and still don't understand what this "hockey" game is all about, and the Panthers' play hasn't given me much incentive to find out. They hold the NHL record for most consecutive seasons without a playoff bearth.

So maybe Yormark is right. The few people who bother to show up for a Panthers game must be really, really passionate about the team.

He's a diminutive man with tiny ideas who looks to shock people and to be as big as his brother is in sports. He should know that if he destroys the basketball market he will be shooting himself in the foot. His Panther licensed goods will go away too. Not too smart from a business man's perspective.

I am a Panthers fan who lives in Miami. The Panthers organization could care less of anyone not in Broward or Palm Beach. They do no promotion here at all. I have complained for years, but they just do not care about a county with the population of over 2 million. Also their stadium is in the middle of nowhere. Smart move.

He's right, Heat fans are pretty lame. But you know what is really lame, moving a Miami franchise 30 miles outta town. Screw Broward teams.

The only people that would say that one teams fan base should be ashamed of themselves is because they don't pay attention to any other sport but one. Hockey in Florida hasn't been relevant since the Panthers made the Finals more than a decade ago and haven't done anything since. Since then both the Heat and Marlins have won championships. This guy is talking about sharing family experiences as if anyone cares. Hell the only good seats are all the way at the bottom or else how are you going to see a little puck on ice going back and forth unless you spend $150.

@Dpandolfo those aren't Heat fans booing, those are rival fans booing like the Knick fans were doing last night since there are an abundance New Yorkers in South Florida. Also, last time I check there were still more than plenty of tickets on sale for ALL Panther games, a lot more left than any Heat game. So next time you go to a Panthers game, look around.

heat fans should ashamed of themselves. It's not bad enough that your own stars got booed in your own house. But I could see over a hundred empty seats past the 2nd quarter. That's not people being late that's people not caring. You guys didn't deserve to get the big 3 and now your proving it.
