Randy Shannon Declines Maryland's Offer

Maryland and their new head coach Randy Edsall offered Shannon the job late last week, and he took the weekend to consider it. Though, he realized if he took the job he'd lose out on his $1.5 million buyout from Miami he was guaranteed after being fired after signing a four-year contract extension last May.
It seems unlikely then that Shannon will be coaching anywhere in 2011, and he's spoken about the possibility of entering the world of broadcasting.
As for that big Labor Day game, it certainly seems a lot less dramatic now. True both teams will have new head coaches, but in reality we're talking about a game that features too middling ACC teams. Miami and Maryland met last season, and Miami managed to pull out a 26-20 win in a fourth quarter comeback anchored by freshman QB Stephen Morris.
