Miami Voice Celebrates the End of Natacha

alvarezfired.jpg
Natacha Seijas was right to worry about her name appearing on the same recall ballot as Carlos Alvarez. She was swept up in the voter tsunami that also took out the now former county mayor. Many local political pundits didn't give Miami Voice, the political action committee that sought Seijas's recall along with four other commissioners, a snowball's chance of dethroning the Wicked Witch of the Northwest, who in 2006 easily defeated an attempt to unseat her.

With only $20,000 in campaign contributions, Miami Voice out-hustled Seijas's political machine, powered by the county's employee unions, lobbyists, and developers. Of course, it helped that the recall group was able to coordinate efforts with billionaire Norman Braman's recall of Alvarez.

Last night, as Miami Voice volunteers gathered at the Billiard Club in Miami Lakes to celebrate, some of the recallers were still stunned they pulled it off. Among the Seijas rebels were environmental activist and Eye on Miami blogger Alan Farago, who has been fighting Seijas since her support of a commercial airport at the former Homestead Air Force Base in the 1990s.

We caught up with the movement on tape:

Ok, the Mayor and the Commissioner are out, Know what? All I see are the savages circling County Hall in order to get some. Let’s see what fine outstanding individuals would hypothetically throw in their hats and run for the two open seats at County Hall. I bet I know. Hypothetically for the open County Commissioners seat it will most likely be an individual (You will have to do your home work) that currently holds a seat in Miami Dade. An individual that thinks he can buy the peoples vote by returning monies to the citizens from their property taxes, what a great guy. Someone who is hypothetically known to have one to many drinks and drives his car with an expired auto tag (several months in fact) putting peoples lives in danger. Some one who hypothetically had a mysterious fire in their office, destroying certain documents? I wonder what the files had in them if this person existed. Hypothetically an individual that would go to a resident’s house with a Councilman pick a fight with the homeowner and attempt to punch the homeowner, missing him and punching the Councilman instead in the face. An individual caught having an affair while married. Yup, hypothetically he would not have any problems filling the shoes of a County Commissioner if he existed.

Hypothetically as for the Mayor, why not put in an individual who is also the head of a city in Miami Dade County that has been known to associate with the lowest of the lowest of Miami Dade politics and is only in it for his friends and himself, hypothetically . Who, hypothetically has been known to associate with persons such as a family from Hialeah well known to politics. If you don’t know who they are, hypothetically they would have owned a tow truck company that was accused of dealing in stolen auto parts, owned a clothing store that had a container of stolen clothe parked in the back of the store in the early 80’s and use to place their name brand on the stolen clothe. The family, which for a price would even hypothetically, smuggle individuals from an island just off the coast of Florida into the United States, so people say. Hypothetically this person that wishes to run for Mayor would most likely be affiliated with individuals that perpetrated a 40 million dollar Ponzi-scheme against him, so he says that he did not know and was also a victim, NOT. Remember the saying “Birds of a feather flock together”. Last but not least. An individual who had multiple pre-marital affairs, one of which was with his current wife before he was caught by his ex- wife, and then claimed poverty after he hid his money from her for the divorce and who her left penniless. Wait, hypothetically he said he also lost several hundreds of thousands of dollars in the Ponzi-scheme, but yet refused to help her? Remember, hypothetically he had no money, MMMMMM. This person hypothetically also received blessings by certain builders in Miami so they can build what ever they want after he gets into office. What a scum bag, hypothetically. Thank god these people do not exist, hypothetically

Frank, I believe your heart is in the right place, as were the voters. But you are letting it cloud your judgment and journalistic instincts. It behooves you and other journalists to look into the background of people behind Miami Voice and the bridges they have burned in the past. Particularly Vanessa Brito, who you and others seem to gush about so much. Been there, done that. I used to believe in her, too. And there are others in the community that I hope will stand up and say what a self-serving locust-like con artist she really is.

Check out the docket for her lawsuit from Miami Springs Councilman Andre Williams. Or is that too much work for a journalist today? Ask people who she worked with on the Haiti earthquake relief effort how that went. You might be surprised. What about asking her about the PAC she wanted to form in 2009? She did create a facebook page and have a meeting for the TaxPayer Coalition, which was formed so she could take a $20,000 donation from a local business and property owner who wanted to give it to Johnny Farias' campaign for state representative in district 112, but could not because it would be illegal and over the maximum. It would be fine, however, for the business to donate to a PAC that could then use the money to advertise against Farias' enemies (a classic dirty campaign tactic used by PACs everywhere, in Miami Beach and Coral Gables, for example). Farias' campaign manager, another Carlos Alvarez, and a woman who also worked on his campaign were among the other four who described themselves as "officers" of this PAC. I have photographs from the first and only meeting in Doral and I can absolutely send them to you. I cannot identify the fourth guy, but I believe he is connected to the Dade Democratic Party. Maybe you can? Let me know.

Fast forward to now, and she contributes $5,000 on behalf of someone else through her company to her PAC (hiding someone else who funded the effort, perhaps someone who is going to now run for that office?) and that is okay with you? Just because it gets us a shot at an unpopular commissioner ? I have no personal grudge with either Seijas or Vanessa. I have a personal history with the latter. But what I am saying is still true. I do not hold grudges. Even against my ex (and if I should hold a grudge it is with him) and the electeds who tried to get me fired when I worked at the Miami Herald.

And nobody is paying me to write or say this, though she will make those and other unsubstantiated claims. I'm just asking legitimate questions and raising legitimate issues and she is throwing smoke and mirrors. Please, dig just a little.
