Obama Was Right: Hurricanes Ousted by Sooners in NCAA Women's Tournament

Regardless of who holds the office, we generally prefer that the president of the United States generally be correct in his decision-making. Unfortunately for us, Barack Obama saw the Miami Hurricanes making a second-round exit in the NCAA Women's Basketball tournament at the hands of the Oklahoma Sooners. He was right.

The Canes were coming off a surprising season, claiming a share of the regular season ACC "championship" and entering the tournament as a third seed. They easily took care of Gardner-Webb in the first round but fell last night to Oklahoma 88-83.

The Sooners led most of the game, but the Canes came back and took the lead late in the second half. But it wasn't enough, and the lady Canes couldn't seal the deal. The tournament loss was only their fifth all season.

The good news looking forward, though, is that the team will lose only three players, and marquee stars such as Shenise Johnson and Requina Williams will return next year with even more experience.

Though it's only the NIT, the Miami Hurricanes men's team is doing better in its postseason. They've survived two rounds of the tourney and will face first seed Alabama tonight in the Sweet 16.
