Open or closed, Shock nightclub is now under investigation.
Shock nightclub in South Beach might be a chaotic vortex of revolving promoters, investors, and name changes, but it finally looks like that cycle might be grinding to a halt.

Miami Beach Police now say they have begun an investigation into complaints against the Washington Avenue club.

Those complaints began when Shock founder and French nightlife entrepreneur Julien Manival abruptly left town in November. Those hired by Manival said the Frenchman had either neglected to pay them or had written bad checks.

Four months later, dozens of employees are still waiting to be paid, but the club remains open -- at times advertising under a different name. It is set to host a back-to-back DJ battle later this month during Ultra Music Festival.

That event could be in jeopardy, however, now that Miami Beach PD is investigating Shock.

"I have subsequently forwarded the allegations to the Criminal Investigation Unit and have requested that an investigation into the matter be initiated," Sgt. Wayne Jones writes.

WWCHJD? What Would Crackhead Jesus Do? Pay Jimmy Copora to bribe Building Director Richard Macconachie, to break the law, under the nose of Mayor Matti Bower.

Good. I'm glad the frenchie scammed the stupid Miami locals. Plus with our inept legal system down here, he'll never been tried or convicted. The only justice might be if he gets killed on a hit and run in Miami while vacationing here.

From all accounts...people and business made loans or advanced credit to the French guy Manival....apparently he was very convincing. He didn't pay his bills as promised...got the boot to stop the bleeding (and stop his "con"). Now other people are holding the bag...out of the promised money...employees, landlord, businesses. So, since the club is renovated why not open it and operate it to mitigate losses and move on??? Sounds simple to me. At least now if competent people are running the joint, employees...if they still wanna work there...can work and get a paycheck. It sounds like people want to blame someone...but that someone fled the country and is trying to stir the pot to take the heat off of him. Like in most cons, some of the victims are in denial that they got conned by the French guy who has a million different excuses these days. The simple fact is the French guy NEVER HAD THE MONEY....that's why he used credit from others, duh. Why waste police resources? Again, the French guy NEVER HAD THE MONEY...he is a con man with big dreams and no money (probably manic delusional...but very convincing...there are mini Rothsteins everywhere people).

Sergeant Wayne Jones only acts under pressure from the media. I'm glad to see that the New Times exposed the club owners. Otherwise nothing would have been done about it. The Miami Beach police are the worst when dealing with these types of crimes. You fill out a report and you hear back from NO ONE. That's a fact, as I've experienced it first hand.

No, no, that Julien has money in France! His parents have two discos, Julien has a nightclub called "The Heat", it has a restaurant in Montpellier, a neighborhood supermarket, a private beach in La Grande Motte, real estate ... It is not to be pitied. It failed on this club Shock, and it just will not pay. He wanted to keep that money had to invest in a new club in France. A great lack of honesty ...!
