Dwyane Wade Unveils His First Pair of Signature Air Jordans

For the past two years, Dwyane Wade has been just about the only NBA superstar not to have his own signature sneaker. He traded his own line of Converse kicks and apparel to take the historic honor of being the first basketball-player spokesman for Nike's Air Jordan brand since Michael Jordan himself. But the brand was slow to design a shoe bearing Wade's name. Well, nearly two years later, the Jordan Fly Wade is here, and it's the lightest Jordan model ever.

Weighing in at an ultralight 13 ounces, the shoes will retail for $140. Two models in the red and black Miami Heat (and, yes, Jordan's Chicago Bulls) will be available May 5. Two more models, with accents of blue and green, will hit stores June 9. The model will be available for color customization through the NikeID program May 29.

The shoes incorporate the iconic Air Jordan logo on the heel as well as Wade's #3 logo on the tongue.

While Jordans have gained a bit of a reputation as merely a fashion shoe, too clunky for on-the-court play, Wade says the shoe that consumers can buy straight off the shelf is pretty similar to the pairs he'll wear on the court.
