Man Sues Goldrush Strip Club, Claims He Got So Drunk He Put $18,930 on His Credit Card

Categories: News

One of the many devilish brilliances of the nightlife industry is that customers end up making buying decisions when they're already a little drunk. What's another $14 gin and tonic when you've already had a few $14 gin and tonics? In fact, why not buy the whole place a round? Right? We've all woken up and thought, We spent how much last night?

Of course, very rarely do we spend nearly 19 grand like a local attorney did at the Goldrush strip club in downtown Miami. Now he's suing the club and claims he was so drunk that the club shouldn't have accepted his money.

The plaintiff is attorney Mark S. Gold, a lawyer who ironically specializes in DUI cases and founded the Ticket Clinic.

According to the suit obtained by Courtroom News Service, "Gold Rush [sic] knowingly and continuously served plaintiff alcoholic beverages to the extent that he was rendered intoxicated, partially or temporarily unconscious, and further to the extent that he had a complete loss of judgment, rational thought, or ability to enter into lawful contracts or agreements.

"Gold Rush having knowingly caused plaintiff's irrational state of mind, continued to ply him with liquor in order to charge his credit card excessive amounts to the extent of $18,930," adds the suit.

We're seriously wondering how exactly someone can rack up $18,930 at Goldrush. How many lap dances can that buy? Did he agree to pay for a stripper's college education or something?

If you have suffered any type of injury as result of an accident in a bar, club and that was not your fault, then you should seek the services of personal injury solicitor  so that they can advise you and start collecting the necessary evidence you need to support you for personal injury compensation. pub fall injury compensation

I wouldn't jump to conclusions without knowing exactly what that $19k entails. Whilst I have no idea of the costs of stuff at strip clubs, $19k sounds like a ridiculously large amount of money to spend, intentionally or otherwise.

Without seeing what he was charged with I won't jump on the bandwagon and say he should get *none* of it back. However, he definitely shouldn't get all of it back, of course - he intentionally went there, and intended to spend *some* money; that much is certain.

I wonder how many people defending the attorney are men who frequent the strip joints in Miami? Maybe a lung cancer patient can sue the gas station that sold him his last cigarette and say, "You heard me coughing! Now I have lung cancer because you sold me cigarettes even though I OBVIOUSLY was sick!" How ridiculous can you be? They probably DID take advantage of him BUT when you drink there's the point where you're tipsy and you know you're getting drunk. He chose to keep drinking rather than cut HIMSELF off from the alcohol. Well, it's not SUPER surprising because after all, he made the decision in the first place to go spend money to watch a bunch of crack heads get naked and all the other fun stuff. Right there that shows some intelligence issues..... Maybe instead of asking for all of his money back he should just ask the club to pay the cost for all of his STD and Hepatitis testing.

Trick that they do at gold rush is they add tequila to you drink so you get wasted a lot faster and they also refill there bottles with cheaper liquor I had a girl in the club tell me that.. so only drink beer when your there..

Strippers stand in a line, $200 dollars a pop. Waitresses stand in a line $20-$30 a drink plus you have to tip 'em. They all go they're rounds and form a "strippers and drinks on him" circle. lol

It's not his fault and all other people making comments on here should realize that. Clearly, he was too intoxicated to make sound decisions and should therefore not be held liable for the tab. If anything, the proprietorship should have stepped in, cut him off drink-wise, and called a cab. It is gross negligence on the company's part to allow this innocent, hard-working attorney to lose all that money.

It's his own fault!! Sueing the Gold Rush is like someone going to the store buying a bunch of stuff and then sueing because they spent too much money all at one time. What the hell! He's a Lawyer you mean to tell me that this man has no coomon sense??? This is RIDICULUS!

Legally speaking, all places that serve alcohol are responsible for their patrons, and their patron's actions after having consumed alcohol on their premises. They can be sued for letting people drink and drive without reporting them for instance. They are required to refuse service to a clearly intoxicated person, not take advantage of him.

Whether people agree or not, these places still have a fiduciary (financial) duty to their clients. Even if he bought 300 $14 Gin and tonics, that is still only $4200. This situation is the same thing as robbing a drunken man on the street, it is still theft. The only difference is that it is a corporation that committed the theft. Only a completely retarded idiot thinks it is appropriate to charge $15000 for lap dances in a strip club. Any police officer would say that sounds more like prostitution.

The people who say he should pay are only upset they don't have a credit card that can hold a $20K balance, and they are obviously biased. That kind of bias would be eliminated from any jury pool. So regardless of opinion, this guy will win this case cause there is a lot of precedence of similar cases finding in favour of the Plaintiff. The Bar/strip Club/Corporation NEVER wins in those instances.

By the same premise, you should never have sex with someone who is drunk because they legally can't consent and you can be charged with rape. Obviously this guy was in no state to consent to having 20K STOLEN from him. If we were talking a grand, maybe two, that would be reasonable, but there is no way a person spends 20K in a strip club in one night unless the strip club is doing something seriously illegal.

The sad part of all this is that most of the old tranny-looking hose beasts that dance at Gold Rush look just like the creature pictured near the headline. The only reason to go to that dump is to do cocaine in the bathroom with your buddies after every other available drinking spot has shut down. I went there once and fingered the asshole of some fake-breasted temptress right next to the stage - got her number, real name, etc. After she got off work, I saw her hack-job face in the daylight and immediately told her I was feeling sick and needed to go to sleep.

The moral of my story? Don't go to Gold Rush unless it's 8am, you're drugged out of your mind, and you want to finger an ugly chick's ass.

I hope this angry Jew lawyer wrecks the owner's month with this scandal. Maybe if he put out a decent product I'd feel differently.

this is no momey customers at goldrush spend way more and when they get bedazzled by beautiful exotic women and some alcohol they then beat the chest in true macho style and whip out the credit card to impress It happens in every strip club across amercia however because goldrush is the only 24 hours strip club right smack down town miami the mega of hot hot hot , the clients do come in spend way more than $18,000 and the media targets us because like i said before its goldrush

There is no fool like an old fool. This fool and his money did indeed parted at the strip club, and now he has the balls to sue. If I was a man and did what he did, I would have kept it on the down low, pay the bill and called it a lesson learned. .I think a good dose of public humilation is the only justice he is entitled to..I hope the strippers nasty tails was worth it, because I don't think he's gonna prevail in this matter. I am sure the strip club did not call him and they damn sure didn't put a gun to his head and make him drink alcohol until he was pissy drunk. Any judge that rules in his favor, is just as stupid as he is and need to be kicked off the bench.

Everyman is responsible for his own actions or inaction in the case may be. I believe it is his own fault for acting irresponsibly. We must try and stop blaming people for our own mistakes. He went to the strip club voluntarily, drank and enjoyed the show and now wants a refund for his over indulgence. Don't blamed the club, they are not his mother and besides he a grown who takes care of himself.

Sdoi
Sdoi

This is a fully grown man. The clubs don't require you to drink any alcohol, nor force it down your throat. I'm sure he had tested and learned his limits with alcohol before this incident. He knowingly and actively put himself into an intoxicated state in public (in a notoriously expensive strip club of all places) and should be responsible for the consequences of his decisions. If I hit someone with my car while drunk am I not responsible for the consequences? Is I was too drunk to know better than to drive a reasonable excuse? Of course not, and that's along the same lines of what this attorney is attempting to pull.

Kev
Kev

Most people dont like lawyers. Neither do I, however, the club probably did see a sucker and took advantage of him. Get him liquored up and keep the $50+ lap dances coming. Can easily be done, with 3-4 girls at a time. Hope the lawyer gets some of his money back. That's just wrong, they should have stopped serving him.

Pretty sure he took a bunch of strippers in the VIP room at $1k a pop. Who said there's no sex in the champagne room? Lol. But if that is truly just a alcohol tab, he will probably win or at minimum settle. No club wants to set that precedence and take a chance of losing.

ROFL!!!! This is NOT the first guy to ever go in a strip club in Miami and make ir RAIN for hours and hours and even days on end!! Having had a nite job in a strip a couple back i've seen it ALL!!!!!! Very first rule of strip clubbing 101, strippers are professional liars, it's WHAT THEIR JOB IS!!! It's a fantasy world, which means you do NOT go into a strip club looking for happiness or your next future ex wife!!! It's a LIE!! Can anyone prove what he's saying about HOW drunk he got IN the club?? Did he call ems and get a blood sample while STILL in the club?? Is it possible he got his rocks off, and after leaving realized his wife is gonna have his balls in a vice when she see's that bill, hit up the local booze mart on the way home and down a bottle?!?!?!????? I know from working these clubs that one single champagne room for one single hour can run a EASY 5grand depending on how many girls you have in the party. I've worked at clubs where a guy comes in a blows over a hundred grand in one day, and never even drank one single drink!! Is that nuts?? Hell to F yes!! But that's the life SOME people lead, and although it's not mine, I still have the smarts to NOT put myself into a situation where I MAY become a victim!! Would any of you go swimming in a a shark tank wearing a raw steak scuba suit?? Probably not right? Well guess what, strippers(I btw, refuse to call'm dancers) are just like everyone else in these hard economic times! They wanna make that paper, and SOME are sharks!!! Word to the wise, if you can't afford to spend it don't bring it with you when your littler head is making the decisions!! Tell his dumbass to pay for what he did. If ya can't do the time, don't do the crime(or in this case, the grim E)!!!!

Gold. Don't you have some work to do?There are plenty of tickets for you to go fix. Quit trying to live ur 15mins of fame here while trying to use a strip clubs and their booze & girls you never planned to pay for. And to top it off? The free publicity for ur business at everyone else's expense. Satan has a nice warm spot waiting for ur ass.

Mark

Not only do i agree. I have a feeling this lawyer had a pre-strip club deployment party idea. To see how good a time a lawyer could have. Without a lawyer having to pay. Can you picture him at his college frat boys college reunion? How he was the one? Guess which lawyer would sue for not serving him. This adult made a decision to drink. He authorized his credit card. Then his credit card company authorized and approved $19k payment.I have friends who think $19k strip club outing is a small party. A message to Gold: man up and pay ur man bills. If ur a momma's boy pussy who was thinking with his other head. Well. Tough titty. You have to pay for not being able to control urself. If you can't control urself, Mr college degree bar passing Wanna be big shot and not take responsabilities? Turn in ur credit cards. Your word is no good. Ur signature is no good. Turn in ur man card. You have proven urself beyond a shadow of a reasonable doubt to be nothing short of a scumbag . All strippers and strip club workers should boycott ur ticket clinic. Because u have shown them ur out for ur self and not fir them. What a joke u r. The judge should make u pay double. Ban u from all strip clubs. Country clubs would not allow you to use a caddie or golf cart under judges order. Your only transportation to any where shall be a moped. My youngest son at 18 yrs old thinks ur a joke for not being a man.

It's not like he went into a taco bell and got a $20,000 bill. He is in a place where $20,000 bills are the norm for the VIP treatment. I live here, I know these type of clubs. Any weekend you can find famous rappers, athletes, lawyers, business executives, etc. in Miami strip clubs spending big shot money. While we haven't seen an itemized bill, keep in mind a bottle of good champagne alone can run you several thousand dollars easy. So your problem with the amount of money he was charged is a flawed premise because it is not out of the ordinary in these establishments. He was most likely given the same services and same bill any other wealthy guy being big shot gets, I highly doubt his bill was for several thousand gin and tonics.

18K is chump change in these clubs, a couple rappers spent over a million in one night in a strip club here, don't take my word for it... http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/...

An excerpt from the article also confirms that these kind of bills are not uncommon, "During an interview with Miami sports columnist Dan LeBatard, Taylor explained that patrons who frequent the VIP section usually have multiple strippers as well as bottle service added to their tab. Both can easily cause a wealthy club visitor to spend in tens of thousands of dollars. "

18K bills and more get run up and paid every weekend in these clubs, the only thing unusual about this is in this case a prominent lawyer doesn't want to pay his.

Really we have no idea as to what services he ordered and what his real level of intoxication was at any given time as those services were ordered so there is a lot of important information that remains unknown. But to side with the lawyer based solely on the amount of the bill is ridiculous.

It's worth mentioning that I've been to gold rush quite a few times. I've never spent more than $100 bucks on any one occasion because I don't act like a big shot, I don't buy champagne, VIP, or drink to excess. That's what a responsible person does if they don't want an 18K bill.

I don't see a victim here.

Some people apparently have more money than brains, but I doubt this guy can afford to swallow $20k as easily as you say you can. Regarding your opinion about a judges capacity, I would point out there is more precidence of people winning these types of cases against clubs than there are comments in this forum. Fortunately the law is not based on people's emotional opinion, it's based on precedence.

So you are saying that after $20K in one night at a strip club, he was not so clearly intoxicated they should have stopped serving him? The courts will decide in his favour because It is a clear cut case of FRAUD on the part of the strip club.
