Reinaldo Ruiz, a sergeant with the Miami-Dade Police Department who makes more than $100,000 a year, has found himself on the other side of the badge. Few details are available, but Broward Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Ruiz Friday night at his Southwest Ranches home and charged him with domestic violence.

Ruiz is being held on $27,500 bond after appearing in court. He has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent and one count of battery or domestic violence relating to touching or striking the victim.

Local 10 reports that several neighbors were questioned by special victims unit detectives. Random Pixels also points out Ruiz is a 27-year veteran of the force and made more than $138,000 in the 2009-2010 fiscal year, and at one point made more than $180,000 annually working for Miami-Dade. Yet Ruiz doesn't live in the county he's handsomely compensated for protecting and serving.

Ruiz has also been ordered to stay more than 500 feet away from the unnamed victim.

Criminal cops?
Criminal cops?

Whatever happened to City of Miami cop Jeffrey Glasko? True he tested positive for cocaine?

Disaster awaits

Public sector employees, especially fire union members, are sucking the life out of the USA.So much greed on behalf of the unions and so much stupidity on behalf of elected officials.

Fire union overpays
Fire union overpays

Fire union members make even more than the Police. City of Miami has over 15 fire employees who make over $300,000 per year. Think massive pensions?

Guess what? None live in the City of Miami.

The Sgt. here did what everbody else could have done...sign up- for the policed department unless of course you are a felon...a druggie....a drop out or just stupid. Don't be a hater....this is a capitalist society. Nobody just handed this person his money...he had to earn it...try it...its not a bad gig.

Take home vehicle?
Take home vehicle?

Typical Miami-Dade employee. Makes over $120,000 and lives in Broward County. I wonder if he has a "take-home" vehicle.

The point is elsewhere cops aren't earning over $100k with such consistency. It's the corrupt gov. Compare our firefighters to other cities too. If their salaries were truly up to the market, they'd be nearly half the size.
