News flash: Old white guy confuses KKK with NAACP.

So, is veteran TV reporter Michael Putney uncomfortable with the sight of two black candidates running for Miami-Dade County mayor?

A factual error made by the newsman while serving as moderator at a political debate suggests that possibility.

While rephrasing a comment made by José "Pepe" Cancio, Putney substituted the acronym for the hangman's faction with that of the famed civil rights organization.

Putney knows the proper quote well. He even used it as the basis for a Miami Herald ~~editorial~~ column he wrote. Maybe no other local news teams noticed, but candidates Carlos Gimenez, Marcelo Llorente, and Julio Robaina caught the gaffe. But, politicans through and through, they kept their mouths shut.

Luckily, we got it all on video, along with talk about Rick Scott being a dope-head, audience member Commissioner Marc Sarnoff, and Uzis.

Please. If Jacob Katel, or anyone else wants to project Uncle Luke as the political reality of Black Miamians, tell him to come talk with me. He's no more comical and incoherent than the other the money seeking, corrupt public officials who run South Florida.

Luke can and should say what you want but should have a little respect and professionalism. He can't expect to speak like that and go anywhere. He had an opportunity to apologize the words he used and move on but, he couldn't catch on to it.

Apologize? See that's the problem right there. Luke is going call it like he sees it all the time. If that ruffles a few suits in a room so be it. He was right on point to jab Rubio as the first non-member of the KKK because no matter how you spin it there is a powerful racist element driving the Tea Party movement as evidenced by the ridiculous allegations that President Obama wasn't born in the United States. Rubio had no problem sucking up to the Tea Party rebellion to get his Senate seat and ignoring the racist ideals it represents. Gov. Rick Scott is a dope head for thinking he is going to push his radical right tea party bullshit on Florida. Luke is one of the few voices willing to call a spade a spade.

as long as we're all about accuracy here Jacob, Michael Putney doesn't write "editorials" for the Miami Herald. He writes columns.

for the sake of accuracy WTF there is really no difference between a column and editorial. Both are terms used to describe when a writer articulates an opinion on an issue.
