Liz Taylor's Miami Beach Love Letters to Be Auctioned Off

Elizabeth Taylor was no stranger to life and love in Miami Beach, having lived and stayed here many times over her illustrious life. In fact, back in 1949 she fell in love with William Pawley Jr., the son of a Miami Beach millionaire, and now the never-before-seen love letters she wrote to Pawley are being auction off. Sure, it seems weird to buy someone's love letter, but it's no more strange than the recent auction for Marilyn Monroe's Miami X-rays or Queen Elizabeth II's alleged Miami panties.

Back in 1949, a then 17-year-old Taylor and her mother were invited to stay as guests at the Miami Beach mansion of William Pawley Sr. Taylor took a liking to his 28-year-old son, William Jr., and wrote more than 60 love letters to the privileged lad. Pawley became Taylor's second fiancée after her brief "shomance" with Heisman trophy winner Glenn Davis, and in the letters she described Pawley as her "first mature love."

Pawley, now 90 and living in Pembroke Pines, has decided to put the letters up for auction. They'll be offered online between May 12 and 19, and could fetch as much as $30,000 according to The Miami Herald.

Pawley and Taylor broke it off after he grew jealous of seeing her with other men and she decided to extend her contract with MGM. Taylor's mother's letters to Pawley will also be auctioned off, and in one of them, she says she had advised Taylor to break it off because Pawley was becoming too possessive.

Less than a year later, though, Taylor took her first of eight trips down the aisle and married Conrad "Nicky" Hilton (yes, Paris Hilton's great uncle), but that marriage lasted little more than a year.
