Marco Rubio and Rick Scott Praise Obama on Bin Laden Mission

Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, the two most high-profile Republicans in the state, both got elected on the backs of campaigns that never skimped on criticizing Barack Obama, but the two have nothing but praise for the president after he announced the death of Osama bin Laden.

"I want to take this opportunity, first of all, to congratulate the president and his national security team for a job well done," Rubio said at a recent news conference, according to Naked Politics. "It took a high level of confidence and a significant level of guts to carry out that mission."

Rubio even went as far as to note that when more details from the mission emerge, citizens will be "similarly impressed with the president and his national security team."

However, Rubio also made sure to give props to George W. Bush, clarifying that "the decisions made under President Bush... began this process and brought us to this point."

The Buzz reports Rick Scott made similar comments praising Obama.

"You have to commend the president and the armed forces -- the special forces that took the risk to go in there and do that," the governor said.

But Scott would not go as far as to say he thinks bin Laden's death will help the president's election chances in 2012.

The Truth About Osama...
The Truth About Osama...

The mission to take out Bin Laden was decided WITHOUT Obama's approval. His advisor, Valerie Jarrett was very much against the mission because of her opinion that it could be a big failure and hurt Obama politically or it would generate a backlash from the muslim world. The reason it took so long for the mission to happen(CIA knew Bin Laden was there in August 2010) was because Obama kept stalling for time, he would not make a decision. Finally Leon Panetta, Hillary Clinton, Robert Gates, Gen. David Petraeus and Jim Clapper upped the pressure on Obama to act before word got out about Bin Laden's location. They said if Bin Laden was able to slip through and escape, it would bring bad repercussions on Obama for not acting. Valerie Jarrett finally bowed out when she realized she was the only one on the President's staff who was against the mission. Leon Panetta had direct contact with both the CIA operatives on the ground in Pakistan and the Naval S.E.A.L. team. He gave the go ahead for the mission without Obama even knowing about it.(Panetta didn't want to have Obama abort the mission. Obama DID abort the mission, but Panetta kept him out of the decision loop and went ahead with the plans) If you look at the picture where Obama and his staff are watching the mission in real time in the White House Situation Room, you will notice that Obama is still wearing his golfing attire. His staff literally picked him up from his golf game at Andrews Air Force Base and took him back to the White House to inform him that THEY had decided to give the mission the green light. Obama was pissed that his staff chose to ignore and override his abort decision. Only AFTER the mission was a success, did Obama TAKE credit for it...!This came from sources inside The White House.

Why did Bush give up on catching Osama?

C.I.A. Closes Unit Focused on Capture of bin Laden

The unit, known as Alec Station, was disbanded 2004 and its analysts reassigned within the C.I.A. Counterterrorist Center, the officials said.

The decision is a milestone for the agency, which formed the unit before Osama bin Laden became a household name and bolstered its ranks after the Sept. 11 attacks, when President Bush pledged to bring Mr. bin Laden to justice "dead or alive."
