North Miami Man Kills Wife While Kids Were Home

​Last night, an unidentified North Miami man killed his wife, then failed in his attempt to kill himself. Police say that the couple's three children, ages 4, 11, and 13, were home at the time. The children were unhurt, but one of the kids may have witnessed the father murdering his mother.

The incident happened last night at around 9:30 in the 1500 block of Northeast 132nd Road.

"It appears that the wife was shot and killed by the husband," said North Miami police spokesman Maj. Neal Cuevas said. "He then attempted suicide but wasn't successful."

Two of the children were in the home at the time, while the third was believed to be playing in the yard. At least one may have witnessed the shooting.

After the incident the children ran to a neighbor's house.

When police arrived, the father was at the front door and taken to the hospital for his injuries. The mother was pronounced dead on the scene. No identities have been released.
