Rachel Maddow Slams Florida Republicans For Slashing Unemployment Benefits

Florida has one of the worst unemployment rates in the nation at a staggering 11.1 percent, but a recent deal struck by Rick Scott and Republicans in the legislature will slash unemployment benefits for those millions of out-of-work Floridians. Liberal MSNBC host Rachel Maddow doesn't like that one bit, and took to her show yesterday to slam Florida Republicans and illustrate the dangerous economic effects the cuts could have on our fragile state.

The bill, which will likely be signed by Scott, would cut the time the unemployed would be eligible for benefits from 26 weeks to 23. Maddow argues that unemployment benefits are actually helpful to the economy and spur economic growth, and that the money saved will only be given away in the form of corporate tax breaks.

Maddow also slams the state for drug testing welfare recipients, as well as FSU's shady deal with a Tea Party-backing billionaire.
