Dirk Nowitzki Is Hollywood as Hell Too

Dirk Nowitzki
Uncle Luke, the man whose booty-shaking madness once made the U.S. Supreme Court stand up for free speech, gets as nasty as he wants to be for Miami New Times. Luke explains how the NBA commissioner is assisting Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki.

The Heat hater brigade loves to harp on LeBron James and Dwyane Wade for flopping around to get foul calls, but the real Tinseltown actor is Dirk Nowitzki. He has gone to the stripe 24 times through three games. That's the mark of a great whiner. And Dirk is definitely a crier.

What do you expect from a dude whose hero is David Hasselhoff? Any man that likes the Hoff is a flipper and a flopper.

Nowitzki lost his chance to get a ring when he let Mark Cuban send Steve Nash packing in 2005. Dirk has been trying to win a championship all by himself ever since. And we already showed him he can't do it alone when Dwyane Wade led a veteran team to the 2006 title. Dallas won't win this series either, but Dirk can thank NBA Commissioner David Stern for making sure it wasn't a sweep.

The NBA should change its name to the NBE, as in National Basketball Entertainment, because the league is all about creating drama. We're talking about a sports organization that employed a referee who served 11 months in federal prison for relaying inside information to gamblers. That ex-ref, Tim Donaghy, went on to write a tell-all book about how the NBA head honchos influence the outcome of games through the officiating.

So you know the NBA has no credibility. Dallas has only one player who can make an impact. Stern has instructed the refs to extend the finals by calling fouls on anyone who so much as breathes on Nowitzki. Anyone who follows basketball knows that giving Dirk the calls leads the opposing players to start giving him some space. Not only does Nowitzki get to the foul line, but also he's getting some separation from the defense thanks to the officiating crew.

All the games so far should have been blowouts for the Heat, but the NBA needs to make money. The 2011 finals are blowing away the 2006 Dallas-Miami series in the Nielsens. Sunday's game was up 23 percent from 2006's game 3. The NBA has the officiating down to a science when it comes to allowing teams to get back in the game.

This is why the NFL officiating is superior because of instant replay. NBA coaches should be allowed to throw a red flag on the hardwood to protest a questionable call. But if that happened, the league's parlay would be exposed.

Dirks shooting free throws because he's taking his game to the rim.  Lebron can't get his cause he's trying to be Steve Kerr.  Hollywood as Hell = Lebron flopping in the finals against Haywood, feigning a finger in the eye against the Bulls, and the whole team whining every time a foul or turnover is called.  They play by another set of rules in Miami; unfortunately the NBA isn't following the 2006 script anymore.

Wow...must be nice to get paid to spew garbage

Hmmm. Interesting that this loser points out the cheating of NBA refs and fails to point out that the one series specifically referenced by the cheating ref who went to prison was the '06 series where the refs swung the championship to the Heat to "stick it to Cuban".

Now this is to sad to be funny.   In 2006, it was clear that the officials were at best incompetent, at worst they rigged it for the Heat to win.

Now in 2011, we are simply seeing a fairly officiated series, with mistakes helping both sides.

Sadly, we are seeing some talented players on the Heat continue on the D-Wade school of flopping, which he was rewarded for in 2006...and so now we see players like Lebron and others continue on the Wade legacy of flopping...  The sad part, is that these guys are good enough that they don't need to cheat.

The sad part with this opinion piece is that anyone in any way affiliated as a fan, writer or otherwise in favor of the Miami Heat, have ZERO credibility towards whining about the officials.

It's now down to the best of 3, with the final 2 games in Miami...perhaps we can enjoy watching the players decide the outcome and perhaps complaining about the officials will be at a minimum...

you must be on crack... are you kidding me ? If you truly know how the game is played and the rules you wouldn't be posting BS like that ! What a f'n joke you are to think Dallas is getting favoritism ! Wade and James travel more than american tourist ! I mean seriously, your so apt to call specific plays, go watch in detail every step they take, James take a minimum of 3 on almost every shot, let alone his first dunk from the 3 point line Monday night, count them 1, 2, 3 steps! They make up a name for his foot shuffle on his shot to make it ok ! the crab dribble ! WTF !  Damn, maybe if I buy his shoes my league would let me take 3+ steps on every shot, and I too would have 30+ points a game. And the one call of traveling on him with what maybe 5 steps he cried and whined across half court like... WTF, me ! You cant call me for traveling, i'm allowed 3 or 4 steps! the buzzer shot from half court, back court violation ! No call !, wades pathetic flop in front of the official! No foul! The calls that Cryami get always put points in their favor, or, gives cryami opportunity for points, as well as, taking possible points from dallas or not giving the points to Dallas as in an and1... 34 calls to 14 in favor of the heat ! Cryami had at least 12 points handed to them in penalty, Dallas had at least 7 points taken away in possession changing calls. Dallas having been given 3 maybe 5 points in no calls. Funny how Dallas gets the only comment by the announcers about j kids travel on the foul, yet LeBrick gets 3 point plays from 3 or 4 steps and then the announcers will jack off to his shot with continuous replays. let alone the sensationalism about the weak heat as they are handed game after game. Remember the NBA is a business and this is a profitable game plan for Cyami to be sensationalized. Dallas would destroy Cryami if the they didn't have to play 5 on 8 each game. You can see the frustration upon Dallas as they KNOW they are not gona get a fairly officiated game and battle that more than Cryami alone. Dirk is continuously raped throughout the game with no calls. Every night for MVP text your votes in for each official if cryami ever wins again. This league is pathetic on is officiation, maybe the next few games i will record and post all over the net the bad calls and no calls Cryami gets in their favor, maybe even start a web site until the NBA takes notice and has to comment on it publicly ! Maybe even send the clips to the major news papers and TV stations, NBC, ESPN etc.

thats just Mondays game... don't get me started on how Cryami got to the finals !just my rant- now you can go back to masterbaiting to Wade and LeBrick as they are sensationalized for TV ratings and profit by the NBA and ESPN !

A Miami fan whining about calls.  Now that's funny.  Wade went to the line what 200 times in the 2006 Finals.  I didn't see any Miami fans whining then.

ALSO...Chandler threw Wade to the ground on Nowitzki's game-tying shot that ended up being the last shot the Mavs made

Now that I'm watching again, I forgot the blatant goaltend on Joel Anthony's putback after his shot was blocked when it was 57-53...that shot would have effectively ended a run that ended with the Mavs taking their only lead of the game at 59-58 toward the end of the 3rd

First there was Jason Kidd’s poke of Chris Bosh’s eye.  Not only should that have been a shooting foul but it caused a turnover which led to a fast break which led to an open three by DeShawn Stevenson, which led to a Heat timeout.  There was the foul on Mike Miller on the fast break that nearly failed but Miller went up for a Nowitzki shot fake and touched him on the way down.  There were two phantom calls on Mike Bibby--one where J.J. Barea simply fell and another on a Shawn Marion shot as he was falling out of bounds.  Wade’s foul on Jason Kidd’s shot fake at the end of the 3rd quarter should have been a travel but I’ll give them that one because Wade acted out a blatantly bogus foul on Kidd earlier.  There are at least six fouls that didn’t get called against Tyson Chandler and resulted in a block, a couple rebounds, a foul on LeBron, and a missed shot at the rim.  He and Nowitzki combined for 22 rebounds, 6 blocks, and THREE fouls.  Yeah, ok.  Then there’s the totally bogus double dribble on LeBron where he would have had to have travelled first in order to have double dribbed and didn’t because the ball was knocked out of his hands.  Some truly Jordan-esque calls for Dirk, but that’s nothing new.  A phantom foul on Haslem on a rebound.  An inexplicable no-call on a LeBron 3 with a little over a minute left.  And then, when the free throws stop falling in their laps, they lost.

Are you flippin kidding me? How convenient of you to forget the 2006 Finals when the refs would blow a whistle as soon as someone came within 2 inches of wade. Mavs had that series wrapped up with a 2-0 lead, but then stern decided to hand it to Heat.

Derrick Christopher Mustelier

you forgot to mention the fact that Tyson Chandler should have had like 8 fouls in Game 3

amount of time spent in the penalty in Game 3...1st period: Heat - 3:28, Mavs - 0:082nd period: Heat - 4:22, Mavs - 3:02 (picked up their third foul with 8:47 left)3rd period: Heat - 5:52, Mavs - 0:00 (first foul called with 4:00 left)4th period: Heat - 4:56, Mavs - 0:00 (two fouls all period)

I believe this is the pot calling the kettle black.  Did you see the foul the refs called on Dirk when he barely touched DWhistle and he went flailing around like he shoved by Shaq?  Probably not, because you don't care about those flops you biased person.

As James said... "The sad part, is that these guys are good enough that they don't need to cheat." !!!! Exactly ! Theses guys are GREAT players... They truly dont need the 'official' help either! Let them play, or call it tight! Dont give advantages with the extra steps, or that first step on the dribble. (rule is that the ball has to advance before the player advances, therefor that first step allows the advantage to the player with the ball.) Now thats funneled down the the high school level of play and kids think its ok to do and they get called for it and cry. Just like the example that was all over espn, and as the series played out, Wades lay up on K. Garnett, count the steps 1, 2, 3, as the announcers claim what a great move, great change of direction! The reason Wade got the basket was 'cuz of his extra step. Garnett played the ball correctly, if Wade had taken or only allowed 2 steps he would of been stopped in his tracks. The media never commented on Wades 3 steps- just Wades move, at Garnetts' cost. Dont make calls that take from a team and give opportunity to another. They are suppose to be PROFESSIONAL and are an example.

Wade went to the line 200 times because he is a monster who constantly attacks the basket. Not that 2006 has ANY relevance with this sorry excuse for a reffing job. Lastly, let me say it is quite ironic for ANY Miami hater to say anything about us whining. Enjoy the next 5 years of overshadowing, and I do understand all you have is your Hating at this point so hate on.

Just because a team doesn't commit more than 4 fouls in quarter doesn't mean that they are being favoured by refs. It could also mean that they are playing smart D.

D. S. must be one of the $8.00 or $5.00 and hour Cryami minimum wage bench players !

Its all you have left though, watch it slip from your hands. Let it out. Its gonna be OK. Let that anger right on out.

Calling some one a hater for something that is blatantly obvious ! Ha ! Wade is one of my favorite players. Nor am I a hater of the Weak, uhhh, I mean Heat ! But if its comforting for you to rebuttal with calling one a hater, then so be it...

Learn the game, learn the rules !

Its not a question of which team I like, its the standard in which the term hater is derived from, which is, a Cryami fans excuse for the heat favoritism and sensationalism by the league ! Being in OKC and a OKC fan I see the favoritism in the calls Durrant and Westbrook get, its pathetic, yet it sells tickets, fills seats and gets OKC into the playoffs. Heat were one of my favorite teams before LeBrick had to come ride the coattail of Wade to try for a championship. LeBrons an amazing player, athletic and very dominate at times, and I really respect that in him, yet LeBricks three+ steps and the don't breathe on me when shooting or its a foul (and1) just sucks ! LeBricks EPIC FAILURE history would prevail, AGAIN, when/if a fair game is called ! Dallas would blow miami away given the opportunity as they did in game 4 against the Lakers. The league will not let that happen, Its the finals, its business, its advertising during the game, Its profit, its PROFIT !  $$$$

I'm pretty sure the problem with the Heat is the lightly-regarded defense of the Mavs is forcing them to be a perimeter shooting team.
