LeBron James' Movie Debut Postponed Once Again

It looks like an Oscar will continue to elude LeBron James much like an NBA championship ring. The most hated man in sports has been attached to star in the Universal Studios production Ballers since 2009, but script delays have kept the project on the back burner. There were rumors that the movie was set to finally start filming this year, but according to Variety it's been delayed once again.

The comedy, being set up by super producer Brian Grazer, is said to center on five men who attend a LeBron James basketball camp, but end up dragging the superstar into their myriad life issues and wacky adventures.

Sounds like it should write itself, right? Well, problems with the script are holding the production up. Or, at least that's the official line. Maybe James figures he should be working on other things this summer, like, say, his image or fourth quarter skills.

Considering NBA stars don't have the best luck in Hollywood (Kazaam, My Giant, anything Dennis Rodman has ever been in), maybe it's best if this thing never gets off the ground.

If Mel Gibson can still get movie deals, I'm sure LeBron is in the clear.  Just wait a year.  I'm sure Kevin Garnett has a few more cancer patient/homophobic remarks up his sleeve.
