Tony Crapp Jr. Resigns As Miami City Manager After Six Months on the Job

After six months of doing exactly nothing about a police department in disarray and a looming $40 million budget gap, Miami City Manager Tony Crapp Jr. is packing up his office this afternoon and bailing for a cushy private-sector job in Broward County.

Gee, thanks for all the hard work, Tony. Anyone out there want the toughest managerial job in local city government? (crickets...)

Crapp, who previously spent years as an aide to Mayor Tomás Regalado, took over the reins in January from Carlos Migoya, who left for a high-paying gig running Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Crapp stepped right into the middle of an ugly, increasingly comical fight between Regalado and police Chief Miguel Exposito. Exposito's force was amid a streak of killing seven black suspects in as many months, allowing an embarrassing reality show to film inside the department, and taking the mayor to task for supposedly intervening in a gaming-machine sting.

Many assumed Crapp was the ax man brought on to cut down the wayward chief. Instead, Crapp hired ex-FBI Chief Paul Philip to evaluate the department, and Philip dutifully reported back, "It's A-OK!"

Meanwhile, the city's financial mess has only deepened since Crapp was hired. The latest estimates show a $40 million gap in next year's budget.

Regalado and whoever is batty enough to take this job will have to fix that alongside a new chief financial officer as well; CFO Larry Spring already resigned last week.

Enjoy the good life up north, Tony. We hope you'll think of us when we're watching the next MPD tragedy and cutting every municipal service short of tap water next fall to fix the budget.

I envision the rest of his life being that of insignificance.

Steal from taxpayers

Herald reported Crapp took $60,000 check when he left the City. Herald reported Crapp approved $125,000 of the taxpayers money to his bud idiot Larry Spring. Who signed the checks?

Crespogramreport has the E- mails and documents showing how Tony Crapp and Ex-CFO Larry Spring lifted $125,000 from the taxpayers on their way out the door.

So Tony Crapp leaves Miami a $40 Mil deficit and he jumps the border for Broward County.

$40 MILLION deficit

Tony Crapp, Jr and to-be-indicted Larry Spring left the City of Miami facing a $40 MILLION deficit. Yet, they took $200,000 for themselves on the way out the door.

See Crespogramreport for the documents.

On June 21st the Miami Herald reported that Tony Crapp transfered $125,000 from the taxpayers to his frat bro disgraced Larry Spring. Then he took $60,000 for himself as he slunked away.

Thanks Tony, for giving the taxpayers two sharp sticks in the eye. Good riddance.

SEC investigating? Stealing $125,000? $40 Mil deficit ?

Dolt or dunce?
Dolt or dunce?

This Crapp dude seems like a dunce. Who would hire him?

$40 Million deficit?
$40 Million deficit?

Tony Crapp was Chief of Staff for novice Mayor Regalado. Then Regalado appointed him City Manager with a 300% pay raise.

Now the City faces a $40 MILLION deficit AND Crapp is being investigated for a $125,000 gift provided to the disgraced CFO Larry Spring.

Steal for bro?
Steal for bro?

Tony Crapp was making $60,000 per year 2 years ago. He is worth $40,000 max. Why would he leave a cushy no-show job with a $200,000 pay and benefit package?

What's up with helping his frat bro steal?

Steal $125,000?
Steal $125,000?

Tony Crapp was a useless manager. He had no experience and he couldn't say No to the many crooks stealing from the City.

As his parting shot he wrote a Memo giving his approval to letting Larry Spring steal $125,000.

Tony Crapp $125,000?
Tony Crapp $125,000?

Tony Crapp is now accused of helping his frat buddy, removed CFO Larry Spring steal $125,000 as Spring slithered out the door at the City of Miami.

Larry Spring is the subject of an on-going SEC investigation.

Crespogramreport has the paper trail.

You wrote Exposito was "taking the mayor to task for supposedly intervening in a gaming machine sting." SUPPOSEDLY? The gaming machines are at the core of the fight between Regalado and Exposito. Regalado never had a problem with any police shooting before. It's pretty clear you are a fan of Regalado in this fight. Shame.
