Alonzo Mourning Accused of Hit-and-Run Car Crash While Driving Porsche

​A Miami art school student is set to file a lawsuit against Alonzo Mourning claiming that the former Heat star crashed his Porsche into the student's car on the Julia Tuttle Causeway early Sunday morning before fleeing. Mourning did return to the scene, however, nearly an hour later in a separate car driven by his wife Tracy.

William Candelario, 21, a student at Miami International University of Art and Design, claims he was driving back from Miami Beach on the Julia Tuttle in his 2010 Audi when he got into an accident with another car, and came to stop near the  I-95 exchange sometime between 3 and 4 a.m. The suit claims that Mourning's blue Porsche sports car then slammed into his vehicle while it was stopped. Candelario claims his car flipped several times.

The suit then claims that Mourning fled the scene, but returned about 45 to 50 minutes later in a car driven by his wife Tracy.

Candelario's attorney says that the student does not use drugs or alcohol and was sober at the time. He called his parents after the crash, and his father arrived at the scene. He quickly recognized Mourning when he eventually returned.

The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed to The Sun-Sentinel that Mourning was involved in the second crash involving Candelario's car. Authorities are still investigating the accident, and no criminal charges have yet been filed.

Candelario was taken to the Aventura Hospital and treated for bruises and a concussion.

Mourning is still active with the Heat organization as vice president of player programs and development, and is also known for his local charity work. The star, who has a public elementary school named in his honor, is set to kick off his annual three-day fundraising event, Zo's Summer Groove, this Friday.
