Casey Anthony Mask Sells For Almost a Million Bloody Dollars
|eBay user prophunter|
"Prophunter," the Los Angeles vendor who listed the mask, wrote in the item description that "Halloween is only a few months away. Forget Freddy, Jason, Meyers, here's your chance to scare the *#&% out of everyone ... with this amazing Tot Mom latex rubber mak, possibly the most frightening mask on the planet... I bet Nancy Grace would love one of these."
While it's certainly up for debate if Nancy Grace really needs another scary mask, we may never know the identity of the user who pledged to plunk down almost a million bucks for the horrifying (and creepily accurate) mask.
The starting price on Sunday was $25, but bidding quickly ratcheted up to $50,000 before making a jump to $700,000 about two hours before the end of the auction, suggesting several bidders had put in automatically increasing bids capped in the hundreds of thousands of dollars even as the top bid sat around $25,000.
Prophunter's most recent piece of feedback was for a $444 movie-prop silicone head he sold July 8; other than a $236 mannequin he sold the day before that, there isn't any feedback listed for sales since April 2009. If the Casey Anthony buyer ponies up, ol' prophunter's triumphant return to eBay may be the last auction he ever has to worry about, all over a little prop from "a parody video by enigmatic pop artist / sculptor Torro."
Even if the buyer backs out, prophunter can offer the mask to the other bidders at their last bid amount, and there were four accounts with bids over $700,000. Does anybody know how to make these things? I'm tryna make a bust of O.J. Simp-- oh. Never mind.
