Four Children Hit by Bullets When Gunmen Fire on Park

Categories: Crime
Two masked men drove up to Miami's West Little River Park yesterday around 6 p.m. and began firing. Four children, one as young as 3 years old, were hit by stray bullets. None of the injuries was life-threatening.

"I saw this black car pull up, and three guys jumped out in masks. They took out AK-47s and started shooting toward the park," witness Lillian Towles tells NBCMiami.

The park, on 2326 NW 84th St., was packed with children while many youth football teams and cheerleading squads were practicing.

A 3-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet while being held by a 16-year-old girl, who was also hit. Two other boys, 11 and 13, were hit while practicing football. None of the injuries is life-threatening, but all the children were taken to the hospital.

The gunmen appeared to be using an AK-47 and a high-caliber hand gun and were targeting another group of men. None of those men was hit.

The two gunmen fled the scene in separate vehicles.

Police are looking for a blue Dodge Challenger and a black Ford Fusion or a Nissan Altima with dark tinted windows. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.

We should cut more police salaries and not hire. This will surely stop the violence. What do you think $250,000 executive aide?
