Kyle Orton, Carson Palmer, and the Latest Dolphins QB Rumors

So the Dolphins have picked up undrafted rookie Pat Devlin, and Tyler Thigpen has officially packed his bags for Buffalo, leaving Chad Henne as the top man in Miami, for now. The QB hunt is still on, though, and rumors about a trade for Kyle Orton are flying, but the team still has its eye on Carson Palmer. Still, they could end up sitting out the rest of the QB free-agent frenzy. Updated.

The Sun-Sentinel reported yesterday that the Dolphins were looking into the possibility of trading with the Denver Broncos for Kyle Orton (a trade that Bronco's backup Tim Tebow might not mind), and those rumors have not died down.

However, Barry Jackson at the Miami Herald claims the Bengals' Carson Palmer remains the team's top choice. Problem is that while Palmer is desperate to get out of Ohio, the Bengals don't appear willing to let the trade happen.

Meanwhile, the Palm Beach Post is reporting the Fins might be content without making any big QB moves:

Dee has given Ireland the authority to do whatever he needs to do to round out the roster, but the Dolphins also feel they have the core in place to make a run this year. Acquiring one of the top-flight available quarterbacks to compete with Chad Henne - Kyle Orton, Kevin Kolb or Carson Palmer - would require the Dolphins trade away draft picks, which Dee doesn't find too appealing.

There's also the possibility of bringing in Vince Young.

Update: Well, looky here. The Dolphins are in contract negotiations with Orton as we speak.

The dolphins need to either trade matt Moore to denver with a 4th round pick to get KO. Then for sure we could at least compete with the Patriots, and Jets. If that doesnt happen at all then they will for sure have called this season over before it has even started.

GET KYLE ORTON. Why keep some draft picks when you can get a good quarterback? The dolphins have not really had a consistent quarterback since Dan Marino. Kyle Orton also has really good chemistry with Brandon Marshall. 2 years ago kyle orton threw 24 completions in one game to brandon marshall!! Kyle Orton 7,500 passing yards in 2 seasons. plus he was out for 5 games. So in like 27 games kyle orton 7,500 yards passing. MIAMI DOLPHINS NEED TO GET KYLE ORTON. Get Ahmad Bradshaw. Dolphins line up next season: Kyle Orton, Ahmad Bradshaw, Reggie Bush, Brandon Marshall, and hopefully another good receiver like Mike Sims Walker. It would be stupid not to trade draft picks for Kyle Orton. A quarterback is the last missing piece to the dolphins. Got the defense, star wide receiver, good duo at rb (wether it is ronnie brown or ahmad bradshaw with bush) now we need a quarterback!
