Possible Bomb Threat to Israeli Consulate Shuts Down Downtown Miami

​Miami Police have closed off several streets in downtown following a possible bomb threat made to the building that houses the Israeli Consulate. Police say a man was spotted in front of the building at 100 Biscayne Blvd. carrying a briefcase and making several verbal threats. Updated.

According to NBC Miami, the man made specific threats to the building's security staff but did not specifically mention the consulate. The man seems to have been arrested.

Police are now awaiting the arrival of a bomb squad to check out a black suitcase that was left on the sidewalk.

The building was not evacuated, but a stretch of southbound Biscayne Boulevard from Flagler Street to SE Fourth Street was closed. It has since been reopened.

We'll have more details as they develop, but in the meantime, steer clear of downtown and the resultant traffic mess.

Update: Police have determined the suitcase was not a bomb, and the street has been reopened. The man was arrested.
