Rick "The Jobs Governor" Scott has pointed to Florida's slowly dwindling unemployment rate since he took office in January. In fact, from January through June the state added 64,300 jobs. July is a different story. More than a third of those total jobs gained have now been lost.

The good news locally though, is that Miami-Dade's unemployment rated dropped by 1.4 percent in the same month.

Florida's overall seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose from 10.6 percent in June to 10.7 percent in July. That means that 987,000 workers out of a labor force of 9,220,000 are now out of a job.

"Florida's seasonally adjusted total nonagricultural employment in July 2011 is 7,225,800, a decline of 22,100 jobs (-0.3 percent) from June 2011," reads the report from the state Agency for Workforce Innovation. "From January to July 2011, Florida has gained 64,300 jobs."

Though, the number of jobs is still up by 28,100 from July of 2010. Miami-Dade has seen 15,900 new jobs created since July 2010.

Miami-Dade's unemployment rate, which is not seasonally adjusted, is now 12.5 percent. That's down from 13.9 percent in June, and 12.9 percent in July 2010. Still, 163,560 workers are still unemployed in the county.
