Espinosa was sitting at the bus stop on 10th Avenue and 7th Street in Little Havana, when a man approached him and asked for cash. According to WSVN, Espinosa said he didn't have cash, so the man then brutally attacked him.
Espinosa was left with swollen eyes, a bloody face and lacerations to his lip. His family says he was beaten so badly that his face is barely recognizable.
Espinosa walked home himself and tried to wash the blood off, but was eventually rushed to Jackson Memorial where he is still recovering.
"I feel he was followed. I think [the suspect] was watching him," Nereida Santana, the man's niece, told WSVN. Some fear that the man is intentionally targeting senior citizens.
Anyone with information on the attack is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
