Club Nocturnal: Seven Shot, One Killed, Hundreds Stampede Out in Fear

• Luis Puig and Jorge Nunez of Club Space have been operating illegally for years. They bribe police.  Drugs?  No problemo.

• The 7 people who got shot on NE 11th Street next to Club Space? So predictable.  Last year a Club Space customer was found burnt to a crisp inside a dumpster. Dead. Her killer was never arrested for her murder. A bouncer?  Maybe her killer works at Club Space?

• In the words of Chris Rock: "Don't go to clubs with metal detectors. Sure it feels safe inside, but what about all those n****rs waiting outside with guns? They know you ain't got one!"

• Do you guys seriously not understand the point of posting his criminal records? They're trying to explain WHY an argument like that would ensue. He probably was involved in the wrong kind of things, he probably owed someone money, and that sort of past behavior is what probably got him to this point. Let's not lie to ourselves with the politically correct stuff, that area is known for gang violence - it's downtown. It's not a safe area and the people that go there are mostly all hoodlums. • On Saturday night Downtown Miami was the scene of yet another unconscionable crime against it's citizens and visitors. A young gentleman by the name of Brandon Marquis McGhee was brutally shot and killed within the walls of the nightclub Nocturnal, and seven more were injured in the crossfire which end result was the death of yet another one of Miami-Dade County's young citizens.For years, the Downtown Entertainment District has been the location of some of the most rapid growth in the country. Nightclubs, restaurants, and lounges have sprung up in this once-destitute area to help lay the foundations for condos and office buildings. Unfortunately over the past few years, less than honest businesspeople have chosen to set up shop in this neighborhood, and unfortunately this list includes the nightclub Nocturnal.Since it's inception, Nocturnal has been built on a sham. Unpaid construction loans, numerous tax liens, several foreclosures and other underhanded maneuvering have resulted in a business that has become a pox on the district. As a result of these indiscretions, Nocturnal has built up a substantial financial burden, which has led to financial and operational cut backs. Most notably, Nocturnal's security apparatus is the most lax in all of South Florida, leading to this business allowing anyone with the requisite money in their pockets admission into their venue, regardless of threat level.Last night, Nocturnal's greed and desperation finally caught up with them, leading to the murder of Mr. McGhee, and the injury of many of the venue's patrons, which has become the most egregious assault within a Miami nightclub property in decades. Unfortunately this situation could have been avoided. Other entertainment venues in the area, such as Club Space, institute stringent security measures working closely with NET (Neighborhoods Enhancement Team), MEDA (Miami Entertainment District Association) and the Miami Police Department to secure the safety of its patrons and our streets. Nocturnal, in their greed and desperation, chooses to ignore the tenets of common human decency, and allows their venue to be compromised by individuals bent on mayhem and destruction.As the pioneer of the Parkwest Entertainment District and the owner of Club Space, I must recommend that Nocturnal's permits to operate be revoked and that the venue be closed immediately. I warned Nocturnal's owner Glenn Koffman that someone would get killed if Nocturnal kept hosting "gangster" parties. I honestly feel drastic measures are needed at this point in order to guarantee the safety and security of our neighborhood, residents and patrons. We cannot abide by those who choose to flout the laws of our city, state, and nation, as well as the guidelines of common human decency just to turn a penny.Nocturnal and Glenn Koffman, this is not a threat, but a declaration. We will not stand by while you keep endangering honest lives and desecrating the area which we and others have toiled so much to build and improve. Our status as decent citizens and human beings will not permit it. It is time you closed shop and exit this neighborhood before you place any more lives at risk. Louis Puig

• Nocturnal is so horrible and such a bad time. I dont know why anyone would want to go there. I've seen the nastiest things happen in there the 1 or 2 times i went there. The crowd.... I dont even want to talk about the crowd, few words: get me the fuck out of here. The girls are all the loud and obnoxious type with bad cheap cliche tattoos. Music is STUPID! And the bouncers are a bunch of losers who pretend to be cool while they're at work. I think that if miami wants to clean up downtown they should start by relocating Nocturnal to maybe where boulevard cafe is at? Or just shut that ishh down!

• Hopfully it's the end of that place it was terriable, and to whoever mentioned the security checking ppl idk, I'm a 6"3 155lb prepy white guy an I got patted down befor they let me in this was done to my whole group of friends. We only ended up staying for 20 min it was so bad.... And my thoughts and prayers go to the family of the victim regardless of his past still didn't deserve to lose his life

• I completely agree with this statement! I have been to club nocturnal once and it was the most filthy place I had ever been. When I arrived and reached the top of the staircase it looked like zombies everyone was on drugs, not to mention I had already paid a cover fee so I stayed for a bit trying to ignore my surroundings. I was approached and harrassed by a man to come to a secret bathroom with him to do drugs. As I was walking away in what was a pretty much empty club I noticed a woman giving a man falacio on the dance floor next to the stage in between the speakers. I thought I was going to be sick. I fully agree this place should be shut down!!!!!!! There was nothing good about it and the owners should be ashamed of temselves for running such a dirty establishment!

Instead of letting it slide that person made a confrontation because he does'nt want someone else to think he's a "punk' or "soft". What kind of people congregate at these "clubs"? Is it some kind of "badboy" contest that ends in death and a prison sentence? Or do you get jumped by 10 a$$holes because you spoke up for youself or your girlfriend? Or in this case, shot....
