Miami-Dade's Unemployment Rate Falls for Second Month in a Row
The local job growth continues a trend from last month. The unemployment rate had dropped 1.4 percent between June and July this year.
That 12.2 percent mark is the lowest unemployment rate in Miami-Dade since last summer, but it's still staggering. It's still considerably higher than both the federal rate (9.1 percent) and state rate (10.7 percent).
Overall in Florida, the biggest gains in employment were in the hospitality and leisure industries. That includes jobs at restaurants and bars. Meanwhile, government and construction lead the state in job losses.
