There are reasons why the state of Florida suspends your license, one being that you are an un trust worthy driver. There is a reason why Jennifer had a suspended license. If we take the DUI out of the scenario the girl was at fault, she had no license it was suspended for over 20 tickets in three years. This is not a normal driving record, and she ran her stop also. So there were many factors to this accident, and both drivers contributed to this devastating accident. A driver with a suspended license runs a stop and dies, when another driver hits her in an accident and now we find he was under the influence of alcohol. I feel both are at fault. This man will be on trial soon and his fait will be decided by a jury of his peers, where all the actual facts will be revealed. For those of you who think he will be put in jail for the rest of his live. read the law if he is found guilty the max he will get is 5years that is what the law states.

This is utterly ridiculous. To say that peter intentionally meant to do this is so incredibly stupid. People make mistakes.. and granted it was a big one, but he is in no way, shape or form, a murder. Murder is intentional and this was no way intentional. I am sure we all have made decisions that we will regret... and this is a big one that Peter also regrets. I do not doubt that he is terribly sorry and sends his condolences to the family. Peter is a nice guy and Im sure Jennifer was a great girl. May she rest in peace. God calls all his children at some point and unfortunately she was called under these circumstances.....I'm sure Peters family never intended for their son, who just graduated from the police academy in February , to lose everything in the blink of an eye. As I'm sure Jennifer's family never saw her future ending with a car accident, but this is life everyone. Peter is not a bad person....if he did not have compassion towards people he would not have become a cop. In all reality it has nothing to do with him being a police officer as he was off duty. I am a nurse and as a nurse we promote well being and health but I know plenty of nurses that smoke cigarettes.....he was not born a police officer just as I was not born a nurse....its not who we are its a job just like any other job only is magnified in situations like this to better way out the other persons opinion.... Jennifer's family I'm sorry for you loss and you are mourning right now but even if peter was over the limit the traffic reports states she was at fault in the accident. It is amazing to me to read some of the coments posted on this article..... "Murder"?? No it is manslaughter; while murder is premeditated, maslaugher is accidental.....The Coral Springs Police Depatment had nothing to do with the accident, the officer was off duty. Unlike the Miami News Times who just like to create headlines, I did some research on the person that unfortunatelly died in the accident. She had 20 moving violations between 2004 and 2011, three of them in June of 2011 including one for driving Knowingly with a suspended licence, a criminal charge, another for operating a hazardous vehicle, and a speeding. In may she had another speeding. At the time of the accident her license was suspended, and she again was KNOWINGLY driving breaking the law. She also ran a stop sign which caused the accident. I am sure that all of you would not be so quick to claim culpability if you were the ones driving and got involved in the accident, with this person, which by the way, had a habit (as illustrated by her driving record) of being a careless driver. Ran a stop sign plus a suspended licence is guilty on my book.

She was at fault for the accident. and she had a terrible driving record. peter had no such thing. he had one accident a few years prior due to wet roads. and THAT IS IT. The postings on this site are insane, I understand the girl’s family members wanting to blame someone. They are in mourning, going through all the pain of losing a loved one, anger and blame is a normal and understandable reaction. But all you others just throwing things out there with no knowledge is just irresponsible. Fact::: the young single mother of a 4 yr old, ran through her stop at 4am on a Saturday, this same driver was driving knowing that her license was suspended, due to multiple traffic violations in the past 3 years when I say multiple it was over 17 tickets for moving violations, in 3 years. Her blood test may have come back tentatively, for alcohol but they were pending for drugs due to prev ticket. The male driver had the right of way and yes it was found he was under the influence in my opinion totally irresponsible. In response to why his test took so long to come back, 1st two blood test done locally where found to be inconclusive, so they were sent out for further testing, I emphasize inconclusive. Why he was not arrested at the scene, because he was also injured and taken to the Trauma center where he remained a few days, and again blood test inconclusive you can’t arrest with an inconclusive result. His previous accident was driving on a wet road not due to driving under the influence, no prev tickets on his DL. There has been no cover up due to him being an officer; it’s ridiculous and ignorant how people always go to that. To those of you wondering why he was in the Gables, Peter worked for Coral Springs but his family lived near the scene. Many things will be revealed in court, we will have to wait and see. But I can tell you if I was ever picked for jury in a case similar to this, I would need many questions answered, especially why test kept being inconclusive then 2 months later positive. It can be said that the officers are not covering, but railroading. This cover theory can go both ways.

It is ridiculous that you are saying all these things, you are right people do need to get the facts straight including yourself. 10 mph ma'am please, physics will tell you that she can stop at that speed if you see a car coming. Your niece was def going faster and the officer was stopped at the stop sign that was blocked by a huge bush. But you would only know that if you saw the seen of the accident. No one is saying that your niece will not be missed, nor is anyone saying that it was ok that it happened to her. But do not accuse that other man for something that was an accident. This accident occurred at 4 am ma'am, if your niece was pregnant it already shows bad judgment and how irresponsible she was to be out at that time. Although the police officer is said to have had a blood alcohol level that was above the legal limit, show me what your nieces level was that night, because for someone to be out at that time, I can assure you they were up to no good. Like the saying goes "nothing good happens after 12". Since she is your niece, I'm also sure you are aware of her driving history and well other issues she had so dont make it seem like there's absolutely no way she may be at fault her. If the tables were turned and the officer were killed, she probably would qualified for vehicular manslaughter as well.
