Rick Perry's New Florida Co-Chair Pam Olsen Believes Gay Marriage Causes Tornadoes

Categories: Politicks

Rick Perry hopes to make a big showing in Florida's Presidency 5 straw poll, and is quickly snapping up supporters in the state. In fact, he's recently named Pam Olsen as his new Florida co-chair.

You might not have heard of the Tallahassee resident, but she has a history of making outlandish quotes. For instance, she thinks gays are to blame for tornadoes. Oh, honey please, don't you watch HGTV? Gays don't mess things up. They're a tidy folk.

According to Right Wing Watch, Olsen is the founder of the Tallahassee House of Prayer, has dubbed herself the "Prayer Lady" and is a big player in Florida's anti-abortion circles. She also doesn't like the gays. Like, really, really, simply just does not have any love for the gays.

RWW captures her bizarre anti-gay rant on camera:

We are under judgment. Do you know how many of the denominations now are suddenly saying, 'Oh ok we think it's ok now to have gay marriage, we think it's ok to have gay preachers, we think it's ok.' Whole denominations! The Episcopalians fell off the planet, they think it's ok to have gay priests. We've got other groups, one of the Presbyterians, they're looking at voting, we've got other ones, they're all of the sudden going, 'Oh in the name of tolerance,' and they're forgetting God's word completely in whole denominations. You know what, God is not one that's gonna wink at sin, He will come and shake at everything that can be shaken. God is a God of judgment, He is. If we think we're not gonna be judged...He judged Israel? Are we better than that? And sometimes I think we think we are, but we're not. And God is shaking. If anybody looks at the news and has just seen what's been happening recently with the floods, the fires, the tornadoes, God is shaking. Yeah I think you have God shaking, sure you have the Enemy shaking, you have both and I don't want to say oh that's the judgment of God or that's the Enemy. But the reality is God is judging us, and I think it's going to get worse.
So the implication is that because some branches of Christianity have embraced their gay members, God is sending us fires, floods and tornadoes. Last time we checked, those aren't warnings from God as much as they are naturally and frequently occurring disasters.

Pam, listen, you stop suggesting the weather is God's way of judging gays, and we'll see what we can do about getting the gays to stop judging your outfits, because ... eeeesh.

"It's Left wing Socialist interference gone a-rye."  Ah, so you've been asleep since the Reagan administration.  Lucky you.

Um... 30-some years of having the US "guided" by conservative ideology has brought us to the disastrous point we're at today.

I thought tornados were caused by women donning trousers like men.  Or was it women  exposing their ankles?

Social commentator and former alter-boy George Carlin sums it up, “Thinkabout it. Religion has actually convinced people that there’s an invisible manliving in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. Andthe invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do.And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire andsmoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live andsuffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever ’til the end oftime! But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needsmoney! He’s all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow justcan’t handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good bull*** story.Holy S***!”

I'm having enough trouble coping with those stories about a giant planet with rings all around it.  I mean, come on!

don't know if they cause tornadoes but they are part of the moral decay of America. ALL gays are an abomination in the eyes of God, or haven't you read your Bible lately. Thank goodness the Republicans will control both houses of Congress and the White House next November, and we can reinstitute the ban on gays in our military, as well as passing federal legislation banning  all gay marriages. A marriage is ONLY between a man and a woman, despite what ANY gay right activist might think. I heard Maddow state on her show recently that she was a Christian. Ummm..no...don't think so, as her lifestyle does not coincide with the Christian faith. Until she repents of her gay lifestyle, she will never lead a Christian life or be accepted into the Christian faith. God does not grant exemptions Rachel.....you would think a Rhodes scholar would know that....indubitably she does not

Sad, sad position you're taking.  It seems very pure and lonely.  May God lead your heart to happiness.

Greed, war and killing (by any name: capital punishment, execution, etc.) are far greater abominations, I assure you.

"Haven't you read your Bible lately."

Interestingly, I have. You know what, Jesus doesn't say anything about homosexuality. And this is what the prophet Ezekiel says about Sodom, "This is the sin of Sodom; she and her suburbs had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not help or encourage the poor and needy. They were arrogant and this was abominable in God's eyes." Ezekiel 16:48-49.

This sounds more like Cantor, McConnell, Boehner and the Tea Party platform than a homosexual agenda.

Has it occurred to you that the reason all hell is breaking loose on this planet is because God cannot believe the utter crap that these right wing ideologues are saying?

Diamondsback2003
Diamondsback2003

Has it occurred to YOU that the reason all hell is breaking loose is because the liberal left has tried to take God out of Country, despite the founding of our country based on Christian values. The liberals have taken God out of Schools, have pushed for moral decay through their pro-choice stance, have WEAKENED our military and caused discord. Even POTUS has turned his back on Israel. Next November, we will get our country back with the conservative right controlling both houses of Congress and the White House. Then, we can start to repair the damage done by the far and misguided leberal leftists.

Yeah, Diamondsback2003, moron. "Next November, we will get our country back with the conservative.." blah blah BLAH!! Next November?! One month RIGHT before the "End of the World" has been predicted by Edgar Caycee, Nostradamus, etc. Hmm....I wonder why it was predicted to happen in December of 2012......Probably because that will be the final nail in the coffin, when the stupid, moronic REPUBLICAN, conservative assholes have complete power. Stop using God as your only means for an argument. You're just like the other narrow-minded "christian" people out there. The ones who preach about "God this, Jesus that," are usually the WORST ones.Go to Hell you conservative asshole

And it makes perfect sense how atheistic, liberal commentators suddenly become theology professors who know everything about the nature of God and His love and judgment? Ridiculous.

I would never want to be a member of a group whose symbol was a guy nailed to two pieces of wood. Drink his blood and eats his body.

participation is voluntary....and with those unenlightened views of yours, it just leaves more room in Heaven for those of us who DO believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior...

AnaTee
AnaTee

I belief in Jesus as the Lord and Savior does not mean that he wanted everyone to pretend to drink his blood and eat his body every Sunday. Jesus, himself, said "you have heard 'an eye for an eye' but I say turn the other cheek."  Yet alleged Christians still hoot and holler at the mention of executions. Jesus said feed the hungry, shelter the poor.  Please, if these Christians truly feared the retribution of God for not following his edicts, they would be hiding in some bomb shelters somewhere.

Religions tend to go heavy on symbolism, like poetry. That said, no, Christians don't celebrate executions; we fight them.  We do, indeed, fight (year after year) to restore simple humanitarian aid - welfare - for every citizen who has hit on hard times, knowing that not everyone can work and that we have only a fraction of the jobs necessary for all who need one.  Of course, there's also those people who put on their Christian hats every Sunday morning, but they don't wear them for long.

And these are the people they really want to be in charge of our country? No wonder we're the laughingstock of the world.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that a majority of the population nominated, and subsequently elected, a junior senator for president on the premise of hope and change.
