Bears, we will let you get away with a lot. You can paw through our trash. You can sneak into our yards. But when you come into our houses and steal our delicious, frosted, high fat birthday cakes you've simply crossed a line, and it means only one thing: death.
According to Jacksonville.com
, The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is on the hunt for a black bear in Macclenny, Florida, a small town a bit outside Jacksonville near the Georgia border.
The bear decided to make a late night food run on Monday at around 2 a.m. when it broke into a home and rummaged around for food. It eventually found a birthday cake and made off with the treat.
A biologist from the FWC visited the home on Tuesday and found the chilling remains of the birthday cake behind the home near a well worn path scattered with garbage left by the bear. Damn bear didn't even finish it.
Officials are now tracking the nuisance bear, once a part of a research project and fitted with a white collar and two ear tags. Traps baited with cupcakes have been placed in the woods. Somewhat sadly though, if the sugar loving bear is caught he'll be euthanized.
"Relocating this bear is not an option," says commission spokeswoman Karen Parker in a news release. "Public safety is our No. 1 concern. When we catch it, we will euthanize it. We do not want the bear entering another house."
Black bears are usually shy around humans, but can become a nuisance if they have easy and regular access to food located around human houses.
