Then you have these Tea Party and other ultra conservative types who are running around like headless chickens from candidate to candidate. First you saw the rise of Bachmann, but she was quickly kicked to the curb in favor of Rick Perry. He turned in a few disappointing debate performances (and doesn't totally hate immigrants or vaccines), and now he's been dumped in favor of the latest flavor of the month. And in this case it's pizza-flavored Herman Cain.
Only time will tell if Cain keeps the momentum or faces the same fate as Perry and Bachmann. His platform is getting a closer look from the media, and well, few are impressed with his 999 plan. It institutes a national sales tax on food, and significantly raises taxes on the poor and middle class.
Of course, if Cain soon finds himself flailing, we have to wonder if Tea Partiers will suck it up and support Romney, or if they'll find a new temporary savior.
