Rina Becomes a Hurricane, Could Threaten South Florida

​Rina has now officially reached hurricane-strength winds. The storm is currently trudging slowly off of the coast Honduras in the Caribbean Sea, with Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. It's way too early to predict with any certainty its ultimate path, but the storm is expected to strengthen over the next few days and some computer models have it headed in the general direction of South Florida.

Weather.com only says, "Most models forecast Rina to remain in the northwestern Caribbean, some for up to a week or more, with Rina's ultimate destinations uncertain." The Yucatan Peninsula and Northwest Cuba are in the most immediate danger.

Though there's no reason to start boarding up your windows just yet, some computer models from Weather Underground show that South Florida could be on the possible path.

​We won't get all hysterical like the local TV stations will, but, you know, keep on eye on Rina.
