Tony Sparano and Jeff Ireland Likely to Find Themselves Unemployed After the Season

​In news that shouldn't surprise anyone, The Miami Herald reports that Stephen Ross is mentally preparing to send a pink slip to both Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano and general manager Jeff Ireland. Interestingly however, Ross apparently has a bit of "Suck for Luck" fever, and is hoping to bring either a superstar coach or a "football czar" for next season.

Oh, sure, Ross, like any truly devoted Dolphins fan is hoping, deep, deep down that the team can magically make things click tonight against the Jets and pull off a surprise upset. But sources close to Ross tell Armando Salguero that the owner knows that some sort of season turn around miracle ain't likely.

Ross, like anyone with a minimum of five brain cells, knows the team needs a quality QB. He even told Ireland to shut down the trade for Kyle Orton (a wise decision in retrospect), and is "aware they offer long-term gain because they put Miami in better position to pick Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck in the next draft." Yep, Suck for Luck.

So, yeah, pretty much unless Matt Moore is some sort of superstar in disguise, Sparano and Ireland (yes, even Ireland) will find themselves a part of Florida's unemployment roles by January. Depending on who's available, Ross would like to bring in a superstar coach. Someone who could run the entire football operations show. Either that or he'd bring in some sort of "football czar" who would hire his own protegee coach. Think the football equivalent of a Pat Riley. Of course, that's exactly what he tried to do with Bill Parcells, and that didn't exactly work out that well in the long run.
