Hialeah police shot two armed robbery suspects last night after the pair tried to ram officers with their Cadillac SUV. A police officer is also in the hospital after being hit by the car. The incident occurred  near West 29th Street and 12th Avenue around 9:30 p.m.

Police tried to pull over the pair's white Cadillac Escalade after receiving a tip that they were planning on pulling off an armed heist, but the driver wouldn't stop.

The driver started ramming several nearby cars, including police cars, leaving many of the vehicles wrecked. The car also hit a police officer. That's when officer began shooting. The driver eventually lost control of the car and crashed into a pole.

"The driver of the vehicle attempted to ram the officers, in fact, did ram one of the officers in his attempt to flee, causing the vehicles to become seriously damaged and one of the officers to be transported to the hospital," Hialeah Police Chief Mark Overton told WSVN. "Hialeah Police officers feared for their safety, opened fire on the vehicle, striking two subjects. Those subjects are expected to survive."

The officer was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and is expected to be fine.
