Opa-Locka Police Captain Arrested for Protecting Murderous Drug Ring

Categories: Crime
Arthur Balom, an Opa-locka police captain, has been arrested on allegations he helped protect a South Florida drug ring and had knowledge of the murder of a Brinks armed truck guard that happened last year. The arrest was part of an FBI investigation. Three other men, members of the drug ring, were also arrested. Two other suspects remain at large.

According to Local 10's FBI sources, Balom allegedly protected the ring leader of the drug organization and fed him information to keep him out of jail.

Balom is also accused of having knowledge of a plan to rob a Brinks truck in Miramar in May 2010 but doing nothing to stop it. That robbery turned deadly when 48-year-old Brinks guard Alejandro Nodarse Arencibia was fatally shot. Balom also supposedly knew the whereabouts of one of the suspects while he was on the run but again did not alert his colleagues.

Balom was arrested at his home early this morning. Meanwhile, FBI agents were seen taking boxes of evidence from the Opa-locka Police Department today, according to NBC Miami

The arrest is just the latest but most serious charge lobbied against an officer in the department.

In May, New Times obtained memos that showed various officers were under investigation for a variety of crimes, including having sex with suspects, transporting alcohol in cop cars for private parties, and stealing public property.

This is very sad that we can't trust the Captin. I knew this department was no good when Nakia Hill falsely arrested me for dis orderly conduct. And he gave the final decision to take me but I guess the BIG BOYZ made this.

CNN exclusive: FBI misconduct reveals sex, lies and videotape

By Scott Zamost and Kyra Phillips, CNN Special Investigations UnitJanuary 27, 2011

Washington (CNN) -- An FBI employee shared confidential information with his girlfriend, who was a news reporter, then later threatened to release a sex tape the two had made.

A supervisor watched pornographic videos in his office during work hours while "satisfying himself."

And an employee in a "leadership position" misused a government database to check on two friends who were exotic dancers and allowed them into an FBI office after hours.

These are among confidential summaries of FBI disciplinary reports obtained by CNN, which describe misconduct by agency supervisors, agents and other employees over the last three years.

In 1999 the Martin Luther King family sued one of the assassins of Martin Luther King in civil court. They did this because the department of justice would not reopen the investigation after the Martin Luther King family uncovered evidence that the FBI, CIA, and Memphis police had assassinated Dr King. The King family also wanted to enter their evidence into a public record so it could be accessed. The jury returned a verdict in favor of the King family and juror members held a press conference saying it was a clear cut case of the FBI assassinating Dr King. There was a media blackout of the trial. Details of the trial can be viewed here or by reading the book called ACT OF STATE THE EXECUTION OF Martin Luther Kingwritten by the trial attorney William Pepper.http://www.lewrockwell.com/spl...

Conditt Jr., 53, who retired in 2001, was sentenced last week to 12 years in prison in Tarrant County court in Fort Worth, Texas, after he admitted he molested the daughter of two FBI agents after he retired. He acknowledged molesting at least two other girls before he began his law enforcement career, his lawyer said.
