Don King, a man known for his boxing promotion and superawesome hair, wanted to give back to the South Florida community. So he loaded a truck full of 30,000 turkeys and hoped to give them to families in need throughout the region. This, of course, being South Florida, the truck was hijacked and now no one is gonna get their Don King turkeys.

King had planned to hand out the turkeys today in Mangonia Park, Deerfield Beach, and Miami, but the truck went missing near Pompano.

"It's the craziest thing, times are so bad they're stealing turkeys," spokesman Robert Weneck tells NBC Miami.

The truck was eventually found a few miles away from Pompano, but the turkey drive still had to be canceled because organizers couldn't know for sure if the birds had remained refrigerated.

"We don't want to deliver turkeys that were out of our control," Weneck says. "Don didn't want to make everyone sick."

King has been giving out turkeys to needy families for more than 50 years in South Florida, New York, and Cleveland. The boxing promoter hopes to get more turkeys and try again soon.
