Antoine Walker Sentenced to Five Years Probation for Failing to Pay Gambling Debts
In 2007, Antoine Walker was a key part of the Miami Heat's championship roster. Today, he's perhaps most notable for being the ex-fiance of Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada, last played for a D-League team and has now been sentenced to five years probation for failing to repay hundreds of thousands of dollars in gambling debts. The 6'9" baller has certainly fallen hard.
Walker was originally arrested back in 2009 on the gambling debt charges. He had written three Las Vegas casinos ten check for $100,000 in exchange for chips, but all of those checks were bad.
Walker plead guilty to the charges, but still must pay the casinos bask $770,050. Walker will also serve five years probation. The felony charges will be scrubbed from his record if he repays all of his debts.
After exiting the NBA in 2008 he played briefly in a Puerto Rican league, and played in 2010 for the D-League team the Idaho Stampede. There are rumors, obviously, that he'd like to return to the NBA, but it appears his days of the playing in the premier league may be over.
Walker filed for bankruptcy in 2010, and listed his championship ring among his assets. He had it valued at $6,000.
