Gay Porn Actor Bruno Diaz "Fired" from Police Athletic League Gym Two Years Ago Still Actually Works There

Two years ago, New Times exclusively brought you the story of Bruno Diaz. Back in the '90s Diaz appeared in a few hardcore gay porno flicks, but had then landed a job as the manager of the Miami Beach Police Athletic League gym in Flamingo Park. After board members complained about his past, it seemed that Diaz was fired. Now The Miami Herald finds that Diaz actually never left the payroll and is still working for the Police Athletic League.

"I just think [my past] is so irrelevant," Diaz told New Times in 2009. "I mean, even Paris Hilton has an erotic movie. I could understand if it was children or, like, animals or blood or rape or something. But have you seen it? It's sooo vanilla."

At the time, the PAL executive board didn't think so, and decided to fire Diaz in a 7-1 vote. Turns out they never did. PAL's lawyer informed them they could be sued if they actually let Diaz go.

"He hasn't harassed any of the kids,'' PAL's president Robert Jenkins tells the Herald. "He is not a sexual predator.''

"How do you get rid of somebody who is reliable and have no complaints against him?'' he added.

We don't see what all the fuss is about. Diaz, now 47, apparently hasn't made a porn film in years. Why shouldn't he be able to seek full time employment now? Smells to us like there's still a waft of homophobia and good ol' Puritanical prudeness hovering around anyone with a problem.

Lets be honest folks, find us one gym on Miami Beach, publicly supported or not, that doesn't employ someone who's done some adult entertainment in the past, and then we'll talk.

P.S.: Shocked ! If I call my parents and the mothers in the neighborhood they will be shocked. In my mind they said Bruno is a Boxer and lives in the forest sometimes. Has this Bruno really been in Germany during his childhood?

Today I went to the Gym to find a place for exercising. I don't know Bruno, but when he said his name I remembered a time in my childhood that parents had warned us not to walk into the forest because Bruno was around. There is a high security jail in the area in Germany and sometimes criminals breaking out. Good I found this article because I don't want to be involveld although he was respectful, polite and professional recommending the Yoga and abdominal classes to me.

Bruno Diaz is a fine upstanding trainer and should not be harassed for some work hemay have done over 20 years ago. Unfortunately, the PAL board members chose to listento one long time member, who had a grudge against Bruno and tried to make it ugly. Bruno always ran an upstanding gym and probably called out Mr. McMannus on hisblatant and inappropriate clothing. Some older gay men get very indignant when you tellthem that they should not be dressing like a 20 year old disco bunny.

Keep Bruno in his job as manager and let this all go down in PAL history as blatanthomophobia. Bruno Diaz is great trainer and a fantastic individual. Leave his past where itshould be ..... in the past.

Lets be clear:Mr Michael McManus , a 70 something y/o gay man, member of PAL would go to exercise every morning wearing little black shorts that showed most of his leg, upper thighs and butt chicks. then he would bend over or/and pull his legs up and down in the air in a way that he would show his jockstrap underneath the shorts and a lot of skin from his private parts. It was a very uncomfortable sad sight for everyone around him, including myself, I was a witness to this for more than two years and I thought that it was an inappropriate choose of clothing for a gym where little boys, teens and women exercise daily. Mr McNamus spectacle was so embarrassing and uncomfortable that me and some of my friends decided to leave the gym for good. Allegedly Mr McManus was obsessed with Mr. Diaz and his alleged porn star status that he started this ridiculous witch hunt that has been going on for more than two years. Allegedly there were complaints of sexual harassment against Michael McManus because he would come onto other male members with sexual innuendos and that is why his membership was revocated. I personally talked to members who told me that indeed McNamus would speak loudly to other members about his sexual preferences in the weights room. This could be offensive, specially to children and women. I don't know if Mr. Diaz was or not a porn star, I heard rumors that he was more than 30 years a go. But he is certainly not one now. Since he took the management of the PAL, the gym has grown into a clean, safe, modernized place to exercised. I was a member since 2007 and it wasn't until Mr. Diaz started working there that the Gym improved, grew and looked so nice. During Mr McNamus allegedly obsessive rant there were signatures by members of the PAL gym in support of Mr. Diaz and his work, if you ask any member of PAL today they will tell you how happy they are with the way the gym looks and the improvements in its management since Mr. Diaz took over.Seems like Mr McNamus is not a member of the PAL anymore, every time I exercised at the PAL gym I was more scared of seeing Mr McNamus showing his stuff at the abs machines rather than Mr. Diaz alleged porn start status which I am sure none of us would even know anything about it if it wasn't for the obsessions of one man. I suggest that PAL gym should enforce a dress code from now on.
