Without a doubt, the highlight of the Miami Hurricanes' otherwise mediocre season was the explosive play of running back Lamar Miller. As a redshirt sophomore, we figured he'd stay at least one more season in Coral Gables, but now CBS Sports reporter Bruce Feldman is reporting via Twitter that Miller is going pro and plans to declare for the 2012 NFL Draft.

This season, Miller was the first Cane to rack up more than 1,000 yards in a season since Willis McGahee, and had the third best season of any Cane running back in program history with 1,272 total yards. Miller averaged 106 yards a game, and ran for more than 100 yards in seven games.

Amazingly, it was only Miller's first season as a starter for the team.

SBNation thinks that Miller, "should be considered the second-best running back in the draft after Alabama's Trent Richardson, if he enters."

As a Canes fan we certainly hope that Feldman has his wires crossed. Miller could certainly still has a lot to accomplish in college football (he could be a Heisman worthy talent next year), but with the future of the 'Canes program in question it may not be a bad move for Miller personally.
