Marco Rubio Sticks Up for Romney, Scolds Gingrich
Well, Rubio has responded and put Gingrich in his place by sticking up for ol' Mittens.
"Mitt Romney is no Charlie Crist," Rubio said according to Naked Politics. "Romney is a conservative. and he was one of the first national Republican leaders to endorse me. He came to Florida, campaigned hard for me, and made a real difference in my race."
Gingrich's campaign has also been airing a Spanish-language radio ad in South Florida that calls Romney "anti-immigrant." In separate remarks in the past day, Rubio also took Gingrich's campaign to task over the ad.
"This kind of language is more than just unfortunate. It's inaccurate, inflammatory, and doesn't belong in this campaign," Rubio told The Miami Herald. "The truth is that neither of these two men is anti-immigrant ... Both are pro-legal immigration and both have positive messages that play well in the Hispanic community."
Update: Newt Gingrich has now pulled the ad that calls Romney "anti-immigrant" from the airwaves. Guess he probably won't go through with rumors that he'd start airing ads comparing Romney to Crist.
