Occupy Florida Interrupts Rick Scott's "State of the State" Entrance (Video)

Categories: Politicks
The Occupy movement made its debut at last night's opening of the legislative season in Tallahassee with a move carefully calibrated to resonate with ordinary Floridians -- they yelled some stuff at widely loathed Gov. Rick Scott.

As Scott made his way into the House, protesters lined the hallway yelled "We are the 99 percent" and threatened, "You have to face the people eventually!" Scott did not immediately hand in his resignation -- but he did smile creepily and then make a lame joke.

If you fast-forward to the 13:50 mark in the video above, you can see the brief confrontation between Occupiers and Scott as he strides into the chamber.

As the crowd chants, "Pink slip Rick Scott!" the governor smiles and keeps walking; to start his speech, Scott made a cringe-y joke about not needing an introduction because "the people outside already did."

Oh yeah, the governor did give a State of the State speech afterward.

Scott called for $1 billion in new spending on education -- though whatever Scott wants, its likely to be overshadowed by the legislature's looming fistfight over redistricting after voters passed a fair districts amendment last year.
