Rick Santorum "Visibly Exhausted," Losing Badly, Leaving Florida Saturday

At last, an explanation for why Rick Santorum has been acting so unhinged in the Sunshine State, from inviting an ex-Yahweh ben Yahweh member to open his campaign rally last weekend to making truly bizarre proclamations about rape: Turns out he's really tired!

Santorum, who will speak at the Miami Downtown Hilton today, is "visibly exhausted" and sleeping just four hours a night, The Washington Post reports. He's also losing so badly in Florida that he's just canceled all his Saturday events to head back to Pennsylvania to do his taxes.

Still, Santorum insists he's not completely giving up on his Florida primary campaign, despite polls showing a neck-and-neck race between Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich with Santorum no where close to the top.

"I'm coming back within 24 hours, and I'm here through up to election day," Santorum tells Fox News. "I've spent every minute here in Florida, and I'm going to work in Florida."

Apparently voters in Florida have caught a whiff of desperation off the ex-Pennsylvania senator, who seems to have won the Iowa Caucuses after a recount.

He's got no money for Florida TV ads, his crowds have shriveled daily and has looked noticeably sleepy at speeches.

So tomorrow, instead of holding rallies around the state he'll be doing his taxes at home.

Still, if you want to catch Santorum's last gasp, he's apparently still going to be at the Hilton at 1:30 p.m. today to address the Latin Builders Association.

Nice knowin' ya, Rick -- sorry our voters aren't as nutty as Iowa caucus-goers (or maybe they're just more handy with a Google search -- seriously, beware a Google Image journey starting with Santorum's name.)

To Rick Santorum The whole line that marriage existed before governments is utter bullshitt. You know what marriage was then, it was a contract between a man and the woman's father. It used to be about owning a woman and joining families together for power and property.

Frothy mix leaving the sunshine state? No wonder the sun is shining and it's a beautiful day. Thank you God. Hope frothy mix stays home in PA and realizes the majority of American's will never, ever, ever, ever elect him anything. His own state didn't even want him anymore.

I could see how "exhausted" Rick Santorum was last night (Thursday CNN debate) when he shredded the other candidates.  He is going home to get his tax records since he does them at home as many typical Americans do that does not have a trustee to take care of things.  He will be back on the ground in FL on Sunday...

There's only so much room for traditional politicians in the race. Romney and Gingrich are snapping up all of Santorum's audience. Campaigning is hard and Santorum is coming off of an epic push in Iowa.

He's tired.

It doesn't help any that his fundraising has always been erratic. Florida's not the place to be for shoestring budgets. Santorum's campaign is on its last legs. He'll limp along a bit further then drop out.

Don't mean to rub anyone's nose in the dirt, just stating the obvious.

What a crappy biased article. Santorum is a good guy and has my vote.

I wouldn't say he is a good guy. He definitely has a lot of religious fueled hate and bigotry in him. I don't think its wise to give this guy power. But hey there's an idiot born every minute.

He made no "Bizarre proclamations about rape"  He said that every child is a "Gift of God" even though the hideous act of rape caused the pregnancy. You people in the media twist everything He says to try to make him look weak, tired and losing.  But if he is tired, it is tired of listening to your garbage. He will never  tire of running for the President of this great country and professing the moral values that the Constitution was based on to make it great.  He is fighting for the God of our founding fathers which is Jesus Christ. That scares you into attacks on Rick Santorum hoping to hide your fear and guilt.  I find it so sad that people in Florida are "nutty" (to use your words) enough to even read anything that you would pen Mr. Elfrink.  People please read and listen to honest news writing honest facts about all candidates not the made up "Junk" that this type (supposed) news media would put forth for your consideration.

How dare you write an unflattering post about a man who believes in fairy tales!  If only he believed that there really was a Jack and the Beanstalk and a Cinderella, he would have my vote.
