Kenny Mixon, a former Miami Dolphin, was arrested at his Weston home yesterday afternoon on charges of domestic violence. Mixon is alleged to have choked his girlfriend.

Few other details are available at the moment, but WSVN reports that he is now facing one charge of domestic violence. Mixon's bond has been set at $6,500, but according to the Broward Sheriff's website, the former football pro has not yet been released.

A defensive end out of Louisiana State, Mixon was selected by the Dolphins in the second round of the 1998 draft. Mixon started all 16 games for the Dolphins in three of his four seasons with the team before being traded to the Minnesota Vikings.

The last two seasons of Mixon's professional career were dotted with trouble over alcohol abuse. He racked up three arrests for driving under the influence in just 16 months. He was forced to sit out two games due to the league's substance abuse policy in 2004 and was released by the Vikings after that season.
